Many homeowners may be confused as to the sudden change in management companies. 


For years, our HOA, building, and grounds, etc, have been underserved! We are not in any position to work with any other management company, except for one that we can trust and depend on fully to execute our full needs. With that being said, we saw early on that a shift was needed, and made those changes ASAP.

One of our main purposes is to assist homeowners and rental owners gain and maintain the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have someone in your corner. Snap Shot of Updates


Please understand that while the Board and Sea-mist Oceanfront Resort are at work continually, there is also work that is needed from individual homeowners as well. Over the next month, as we communicate more via our upcoming meeting, website/email updates, newsletter, etc., you'll learn more about the plan being set in place for ALL of us to do our parts in making the Tides/Driftwood amazing. We couldn't possibly share everything with you in this newsletter. Perhaps we'd need an entire newspaper for that! However, we did include what we believe to be some of the most important updates-(in no particular order below).

  • A very warm welcome to our newest board members-

  • Be sure to visit our new website, designed by us, for us. Although not fully completed, you can see our progress and also make contact with us at www.tdohoa.com.


  • Our lobby has been repainted. The outdated furniture has been disposed of, and the carpet behind the lobby desk has been removed and installed with new flooring.


  • Spring Cleaning has begun! Our new cleaning company has taken the building and given it a scrub from head to toe with TLC. They are currently contracted in our building from 9am - 10pm.  The cleanliness in our building has taken a extraordinary shift!


  • The missing floor tiles in the building have arrived. They will be installed this week. We currently have several pending quotes to determine the costs of re-flooring the building.


  • The back patio and front grounds have been pressured washed.


  • Our building's carpet was cleaned during the week of April 12th.


  • We retained a law firm in January 2022.


  • Three of the large, unsightly blue planters have been removed from the property; remaining 2 planters will be either repainted and potted with flowers or removed as well to enhance the look of our building. Any input/suggestions are welcome in order to improve the aesthetic appeal of our resort experience.


  • Lobby carts are being replaced.
  • A conference call was held with both the HO6 and General Liability Insurance companies to confirm that we are receiving the best coverages.  
  • (Some units on Floors 8-11 have taken some water damage from water moisture.  Please contact the management company for additional details).


  • Security cameras estimates are pending for outdoors and in the hallways.


  • Speed bumps have been ordered and will be installed to slow the traffic down and increase safety.


  • Our security team will be increasing our current manpower to account for the upcoming busy season.


  • We are pending cleaning of the outdoor windows.


  • Storage/mechanical rooms have been cleared of all debris/trash.


  • All AC units will receive repair/ replacement.


  • Roof repair for Tides will be finished by May 3, 2022. Estimates for Driftwood are still being received.


  • Pest Control Plan being developed to ensure 90%+ room spray rate


  • Non-participating board member removed (February 2022).


  • Sea-mist is upgrading services for our Phone/Cable/Internet.


  • The drains in front of the building and the patio have been unclogged and cleaned.


  • Our budget has taken a significant decrease in multiple areas.  Full Updates will be shared at upcoming meeting. 

Sea-Mist Resort Ownership/ Executive Team

There are so many changes that are in play, and still so many more that are underway for the Tides/Driftwood Building and the Sea-mist resort as a whole. These changes include areas in landscaping, pools, and various amenities. They also include changes related to our current lock system and entry ways. It spans even further to the point that our budget is taking a major decrease in multiple areas- due to the new Sea-mist ownership desiring things to be amicable and fair.


Words can't express our gratitude to the ownership and executive team at the Sea-mist Resort. Without their teamwork and agreement, very few of the things above could have gotten done.



Presidents Corner


When our current board first began in December 2021, we knew that based on the conditions from the last several years of both the Tides and Driftwood building, that we had a lot of uphill work to tackle. Despite the load of "to do's" in front of us, and despite the unnecessary chatter saying "it" can't be done, we jumped in headfirst and went straight to work. As a board, we have the privilege and honor daily, in volunteering ourselves for the betterment of the Tides/Driftwood Homeowners Association.

 

On a regular basis we communicate in a group text and via

telephone calls. Several times throughout the week, we are on a zoom meeting. At the spur of the moment, we are continuously shifting our schedules or doing a group call with various companies/organizations. This is on top of the daily emails, important requests/meetings/phone calls/deadlines. The undertaking is no light task.

 

Why did I desire to spend an entire column speaking about the Board?...well simply because we need you to understand that everything is a process, and a big plan with major shifts is in play. Just like a bow and arrow, to propel forward it has to go backwards first. The backwards is not a indication of any negativity; it is about the element of change.   We need you to know that we have not wavered in our commitment of making Tides/Driftwood the absolute best that it can be.

 

A well-known man once said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

 

We are open ears and welcome all of your feedback and constructive criticism. We also appreciate your patience in understanding that we came into this new year with a lot of issues and changes needed.


To ensure our communication is on par, we will be keeping the website updated, in addition to providing quarterly newsletters/HOA member meetings.
