PARENT SURVEY DEADLINE IS FAST APPROACHING

The deadline to complete the parent input survey on our proposed plans for the construction of a new academic building is fast approaching.

If you haven't done so already, please take a few minutes to review our proposal for the future of Holy Trinity and then take the survey. Your feedback is valued and important!
Thank you for your time and valuable feedback!
FIRST PARENT WORKSHOP TACKLES TEEN ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

Many thanks to those families who spent part of their Tuesday evening with us participating in our first parent workshop of the school year!

Holy Trinity teamed with LiveWell Behavioral Health to offer this free informational session to parents of pre-teens and teens as part of our "Just Be in 2022-23" wellness initiative. Dr. Mike and Dr. Trevor's presentation provided practical tips and proactive tools to understand and address the biological, psychological, and sociological factors that contribute to contextual, seasonal, and chronic anxiety and depression to better equip parents to openly communicate with their teens about anxiety and depression and navigate steps toward getting healthy and staying healthy.

Dates for future parent workshops will be shared with families in advance.
NEW TIGER TRANSIT TRACKER SYSTEM IS A SUCCESS!

Thank you for your preparation, participation and patience this week as we implement our new Tiger Transit Tracker system. We are still “tweaking” the process to ensure we have students to their destinations on time, and expect to have arrival times back to normal for the LS to US afternoon run today.

Both Upper and Lower School students adopted the new practice so quickly – we appreciate their cooperation immensely.

As a reminder, Temporary Tiger Transit Passes can be found in the Files & Forms section of every student’s onCampus account. This PDF document can be printed and presented by Lower School students; Upper School students may choose to save this document on their phone to present for scanning. All 22-23 HTEA School IDs (or, for US students, a clear photo thereof) can be used as a Tiger Transit pass.

If you have any questions about Tiger Transit passes, please contact helpdesk@htes.org.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: Tiger Transit will utilize two buses next Wednesday, October 12th to allow all of our students to depart directly after school at 11:30 am.  Buses will load at 11:30 and depart by 11:40 with arrival at the opposite school by 12:00 pm. Parents, please plan to pick up your child/children immediately upon arrival as there will be no student supervision once buses arrive.

CALLING ALL 6TH GRADE PARENTS! Believe it or not, 7th grade will be here before you know it! On Wednesday, November 2nd, there will be a 6th grade trip to the Upper School for the students to tour our campus. During this time, they will visit the Tiger Athletic Complex, stop by a couple of classrooms, participate in a chapel service, meet some Upper School students, and get a good idea of what school looks and feels like as a junior high student. We are very much looking forward to this day!

All 6th graders will be bussed to the Upper School by Tiger Transit and depart the Lower School promptly at 8:30am, arriving back at the LS around 11:30am to continue their school day. Students should wear their normal uniform instead of their Character Ed attire to feel more a part of the Upper School. For lunch, students will eat lunch upon their return to the Lower School. Ordered lunches will be available as usual.

Please take a moment to log in to onCampus to complete and submit the permission form for this trip. This will appear across the top of your screen in the yellow bar.

TIGERS MAKING TRACKS
OVERHEARD AT THE UPPER SCHOOL...

“I like these days because it lets us be a kid again before we have to go off to college.”
- Student during the October Wellness Breakouts, October 6, 2022.
MATH TEACHER BY DAY, POLITICAL RESEARCHER AND CONTRIBUTOR BY NIGHT

When Mr. Bonanza is not teaching Algebra II Honors, College Algebra & Statistics, and AP Statistics, he is a political science researcher and contributor for various publications. His most recent work is featured in the cover story in the most recent issue of Florida Trend magazine (see page 50).
SENIOR MISHRA IS A PUBLISHED AUTHOR!

Holy Trinity senior Dhyana Mishra can add published author to her long and impressive list of accomplishments. Her book titled "Words for Nerds" is now available for purchase on Amazon.com.

Dhyana was inspired to create the book after her spelling bee experiences and because of her love for words and languages. "Perfect for spelling bee preparation, crossword puzzles, and other word games, Words for Nerds is more than a collection of word lists: it provides the opportunity for an in-depth exploration of interesting words and a greater appreciation for the English language."

Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Save the Children to support kids in Ukraine.
SENSOR-Y OVERLOAD!

Mr. Bowden's Robotics class has been working with sensors called Quadrature Shaft Encoders that detect sideways drift in the robot's forward movement and make continuous course corrections. This is necessary because the motors don't spin at exactly the same rate, causing the robot to drift to one side or another. These videos demonstrate the use of these sensors to maintain a straight path over a long distance:
BLOWN AWAY BY LIFE SCIENCE

On Wednesday in Ms. Nicolich's Life Science class 7th graders got to see a demonstration of how yeast releases carbon dioxide during fermentation. The carbon dioxide helped blow up a balloon so students could physically see the process!
PHOTOGRAPHY'S "WORD" OF THE WEEK

Ms. Fleis' Photo 1 and 2 students will be taking "Word Of The Week" pictures this year on alternating weeks. This week, Photo 2 was assigned the word "Shadow" They had a week to work on it and Photo 1 voted on the one they liked best. The winning picture is titled "POV: You couldn't get your timer to work" and it is by sophomore Isabelle Clark.
Welcome to our new reoccurring section of the newsletter entitled “IDEAS into Action,” where each week we will feature the great ideas and future-forward thinking taking place inside (and outside) our classrooms. IDEAS that represent:
  • Innovative thinking
  • Design perspective
  • Entrepreneurship (exhibiting entrepreneurial spirit) and/or
  • Applied Solutions (applying scientific knowledge or a taking a research-based approach to a project or assignment)

This week, to kick things off, we proudly feature the work of our littlest innovators and future engineers...
Mrs. Williams’ Prekindergarten Class designed and constructed a fairy garden for the Early Childhood garden. Each student planned out how they would design a fairy garden. They then collaborated to make sure they added in the items that were necessities for the limited space we have. After working together, they made their fairy garden. The students spent a few days planning, designing, and collaborating. The class discussed that when you collaborate, you must "share" which was their "Class Commitment" for the week. Share also starts with the letter S which was the class letter of the week. They also discussed how when designing something as a team it is important to use the "I CARE RULES" -- specifically to listen. How's that for next level thinking.
Even our Early Childhood Extended Day students have gotten the critical thinking, collaboration and creativity bug using the building blocks that were around the playground to build chairs. Now THAT's some ECH ingenuity!
