Kirk Faubel
Board Chair
Several members of the Board of Directors participated in the annual Chamber Spring Clean including our Board Chair Elect and co-Chair of this event, Nikki Weddle. We were impressed at how well organized it was and appreciative of all of the volunteers that made this community focused event a huge success!
The Board is continuing to work on simplifying and modernizing our bylaws. At the last board meeting, we reviewed the proposed changes. The Board provided some additional feedback and added some things we would like to see. The Board approved the changes to the bylaws which leads us to our final step prior to ratification which is having an attorney review the bylaws to ensure that we are in compliance with all state and national laws around our type of organization. We are in the process of selecting a law firm for review. This is an important step in having an up to date set of rules for the Chamber that will make things more streamlined for operations as well as, keep us up to date on the Board's responsibilities.
The Board is also hosting our annual member appreciation BBQ on May 29th! The Board looks forward to seeing you there. Check back on the Chamber website to register and enjoy a fantastic lunch prepared by the Chamber.
I look forward to seeing you an upcoming event!
-Kirk

Let’s Celebrate!
May is a big month for The Chamber, and I hope you feel the energy around it.
On May 12, we celebrate 80 years of the Kirkwood – Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce. That takes us back to 1946, when a group of local leaders came together with a shared goal to support business and strengthen the community. David Lee Jones, Sr. of the Kirkwood Messenger Newspaper stepped in as the first president, and from that moment, something meaningful was set in motion.
What started in Kirkwood did not stay in Kirkwood. Over time, the Chamber grew to serve Des Peres, Glendale, Oakland, and Warson Woods, expanding both its reach and its impact. Today, you are part of one of the largest Chambers in St. Louis County, made up of business owners and professionals who believe in connection, growth, and showing up for one another. That is what has carried this organization for 80 years, and it is what continues to move us forward.
One of the things I enjoy most is celebrating the wins of our members. This newsletter is not just about the Chamber. It is about you. We want to highlight your anniversaries, your milestones, your promotions, and the moments that matter in your business. If something worth celebrating is happening, send it to us. We want to share your story and recognize the work you are doing.
On May 12th we have a great reason to celebrate together. Our Monthly Member Luncheon on May 12 falls on our official anniversary, and we are going to make it a special one. You will be surrounded by people who are part of this history and part of what comes next. It is a chance to connect, reflect, and have a little fun while we recognize 80 years of impact.
So, will you be in the room with us?
We are proud of where we have been, and we are focused on where we are going. And the best part is, we get to build it together.
THE CHAMBER THAT HAS IT ALL!
-Chris
