YMCA CYCLE FOR KIDS 2026

After an incredible response last year, YMCA Cycle for Kids is back! We're excited to once again bring our community together for a day filled with energy, encouragement, and plenty of fun—all while making a lasting difference in the lives of local children and youth.

We know it's a few months away, but we want you to save the date to join us on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Fredericton YMCA (570 York Street) for this inspiring community event. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or simply looking for a fun way to give back, every pedal stroke helps create opportunities for children and youth in our community.

When you ride, you're doing more than raising your heart rate—you'll be raising funds to provide subsidized YMCA memberships and life-changing child and youth development programs for local families. Every dollar raised stays right here in our community, helping ensure every child has the opportunity to belong, grow, and thrive.

Getting involved is easy!

1. Register to Ride

Sign up as an individual or gather your friends, family, or coworkers to form a team. Start fundraising and reserve your bike! Closer to the event, you'll be able to select your preferred 45-minute ride time, with start times available between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

2. Show Your Spirit

Have fun with matching team shirts, creative costumes, or a unique fundraising challenge. Not only will you turn heads, but you might even take home a prize!

3. Share Your Why

Spread the word on social media, invite your friends and family to cheer you on, and help us inspire even more people to support local children and youth.

Together, we can spark potential, strengthen our community, and help every child discover what they're capable of. We can't wait to ride with you!

While Team Canada didn't make it as far as we had hoped, we know that at the YMCA, the most important goal is bringing people together and having fun!

We loved sharing the excitement of the tournament with our community and hope you enjoyed every match as much as we did.

Be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages, you never know what community events or watch parties we might have planned next!

Y STORIES: COMMUNITY IN ACTION

MEET ANDREW

After an injury changed the course of his life, Andrew Lawlor found new challenges through para-boxing and wheelchair rugby. As he began competing for Team New Brunswick on the national stage, he realized he had the motivation to work hard but needed help focusing that energy in the right places. When he started training at the Fredericton YMCA, Lauren never seemed intimidated by his disability.

The impact extended far beyond the gym floor. Since beginning personal training, Andrew has competed at three national championships in wheelchair rugby, including helping Team New Brunswick reach the Tier 1 bronze medal game. “Little New Brunswick got to the top four,” he said proudly. For Andrew, the biggest difference was having someone believe in him. “It wasn’t that I needed a push. I needed someone to believe in me, and there’s nothing more energizing than someone else believing in you when you don’t even believe in yourself in that moment.”

Today, Andrew describes the YMCA with three words: inclusivity, accountability, and opportunity. From staff members who adapted equipment and created an accessible training environment to members who check in when he’s away, he says the YMCA is a place where everyone belongs. “Inclusive of lifestyle, ability, financial status, physical status - a place where you can just be yourself.” He also values the sense of community throughout the wellness floor. “Every story up on that floor is inspiring. Everyone is fighting a battle of some sort.” For Andrew, the YMCA is more than a gym. “This is the place for me.”
