Who's who at the Y? Meet Stephanie Richardson!

Running into Stephanie Richardson at the YMCA is guaranteed to brighten your day. Stephanie has worn many hats while working here at the Y. She started out as a wellness attendant and Welcome Desk membership specialist at Fredericton North YMCA. In the meantime, she was also studying to become a personal trainer and aqua fit instructor. After the COVID interruptions of 2020, Stephanie had the opportunity to step into the role of aquatics manager, despite not having a strong background in the field. She quickly learned a lot about aquatics and she managed to bring her exceptional problem solving skills to the pool to transform the department into the place it is today. Once Stephanie stepped out of that role, she found herself as the Program Specialist for the Wellness, Aquatics, Membership and Youth department, while offering support in childcare when needed. More recently, she engaged in the learning process of becoming a YMCA Champion in Fitness, and also a YMCA Fitness Educator. The Champion and Educator designation means that Stephanie can certify personal trainers and aqua fit instructors AND other Champions! Currently, Stephanie finds herself in the role of Finance Coordinator, which she has taken on this summer.

Stephanie certainly has the ability, flexibility and knowledge required to easily jump into the various career opportunities we offer at the Y. The reason Stephanie likes finding ways to offer her skillset to the Y has to do with her love of our Fredericton Y. “I've been asked [what I love about the Y] a lot over the years and the main theme of every answer I always give is that I love the YMCA because of the members and the impact that I make in other people's lives, and also the impact that we make as a team in individual lives and the community.”
