June arrives with longer days and, for many in our community, a renewed sense of possibility. As we mark the midpoint of 2026, we find ourselves pausing to reflect on how far this community has come and how much of that journey belongs to you, our donors and supporters.

As we reflect on this past month at Voluntad, we are reminded that healing and hope are often built through small, consistent acts of care. This month brought both challenges and meaningful progress for many of the individuals and families we serve. We witnessed survivors take important steps toward stability, access safe housing, reconnect with their goals, and begin rebuilding trust in themselves and others. These moments may not always be visible, but they are powerful reminders that community matters deeply.

Thank you for continuing to stand beside Voluntad and the survivors we serve. Your support creates space for dignity, healing, and possibility, and we are grateful to walk this journey together.

Program Updates

What we've been up to

This last quarter brought meaningful growth across several of our programs at Voluntad. As community needs continue to evolve, we have remained focused on providing trauma-informed support that meets survivors where they are and responds to both immediate crises and long-term stabilization needs. Throughout the quarter, we supported survivors with case management, emotional support, safety planning, resource navigation, and connections to housing, healthcare, and other critical services.

We also continued building community through our support group at The Gathering Place, creating a consistent space for connection and healing. The group has become an important source of encouragement, offering opportunities to reduce isolation, strengthen emotional wellness, and build trust in a safe and supportive environment. These moments of connection continue to remind us that healing often begins with simply knowing you are not alone.

Advocacy & Awareness

Change beyond our doors

• Colorado SB2615: focuses on updating state criminal law around commercial sexual activity involving minors. The bill replaces the term "child prostitution" in multiple statutes with "commercial sexual activity with a child," emphasizing that minors involved in these cases are victims rather than participants. It also strengthens sentencing requirements for certain offenses. Courts would be required to impose at least the minimum prison sentence in the presumptive range for several child-exploitation-related crimes, limiting the ability to sentence offenders to probation in many of these cases. The intent is to ensure more consistent accountability for individuals who buy, solicit, or profit from the commercial sexual exploitation of children.
