Great Plates Delivered:
Home Meals for Seniors
On April 24, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the launch of a first-in-the-nation “Great Plates Delivered” program, a meal delivery service for California’s older adults. There is no cost to recipients.

Great Plates Delivered has two purposes:
  1. Help seniors 65 and older, and other adults 60 to 64 who are at high risk from COVID-19, to stay home and stay healthy by delivering three nutritious meals a day,
  2. Provide essential economic stimulus to local businesses struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 crisis.

  • Those who are COVID-19 positive (as documented by public health officials or a medical professional)
  • Individuals who were exposed to COVID-19 (as documented above) or those with an underlying health condition.
  • Individuals must live alone or with another eligible adult.
  • Participants must not be currently receiving assistance from another state or federal nutrition assistance program.
  • Yearly income for an individual is under $75,000 or for a couple is under $101,000.
  • Participants must affirm their inability to prepare or obtain meals.
  • If eligible, each individual will receive three meals daily. Each freshly prepared meal will be low sodium and will include a fruit or vegetable. No sugary drinks will be included in the delivered meals.

To apply by the Sunday, May 10 , deadline:

Show Up (From Home) for Christy Smith's
Virtual Community Event: Saturday May 9

The work continues! Together Democrats across Ventura County, and our state, are working to elect Christy Smith to Congress and stop Trump by defeating Mike Garcia. The CD-25 seat, which covers Simi Valley in Ventura County, is now considered a toss-up!

Christy Smith’s special election is right around the corner on May 12th, and we need all hands on deck to protect this critical congressional seat.

The Ventura County Democratic Party in conjunction with the California Democratic Party are excited to announce a statewide Day of Action on May 9th to make as many phone calls to voters who need to hear from us.

WHO: Future Congresswoman Christy Smith, CADEM Chair Rusty Hicks, special guests,
Fired Up Democrats Across CA, and You!

WHAT: Statewide Day of Action to Elect Christy Smith

WHEN: Saturday, May 9th
