May 2021
All funds raised for ASLA stay in Los Angeles County to strengthen our programs to positively impact our community.
As we wrap up April, our work does not end… everyday Autism Society of Los Angeles works to build an inclusive society where individuals with autism live fully through connection and acceptance.

Thank you to all who participated in our Outdoor Movie Event, sponsors (see below), volunteers, community, donors and most importantly our Self-Advocates.  The highlight was the presentations by Autistic Filmmakers, please see the introduction of Rachel Kopito and Dani Bowman below.

If you were unable to attend, we MISSED you, but there is still time to DONATE to support our programs and advocacy efforts HERE. Thank you.

As we move into May and June, we have some exciting programming planned which will be released shortly.

Rachel Kopito

Rachel graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Animation. She was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum at a very young age. Her past experiences range from designing logos, storyboarding and directing short films, and illustrating a children’s book. Her goal is to work in the entertainment industry and eventually create her own comics and animated films, while providing more positive representation for people with disabilities.
Dani Bowman
Film: The Home Office
Dani, who is on the autism spectrum founded her company, DaniMation Entertainment, at age 11, and has been working professionally since she was 14 and started teaching animation summer camps at age 15.

Dani has gone on to graduate from Woodbury University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA) magna cum laude in Animation in 2018 and Master’s of Business Administration summa cum laude in Global Strategy and Leadership in 2020.

She presented both her junior and senior thesis animated shorts at San Diego Comic-Con. Dani is currently working on getting a PhD in Psychology focusing on autism with her research thesis based upon quantifying the impact on her students from her past 10 years of peer teaching.
