Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification
November 17th from 8 am - 5 pm
Vashon Island Presbyterian Church
Pre-Registration Required

This FREE 8-hour class is offered through King County and taught by myself and Woody Pollock.

It’s a great introduction to supporting the mental health of young people. We give you an easy plan to follow to help support a young person and to direct them to the right resources. We also help break down the stigma of mental health. This class is geared towards anyone who has an interest in the health of youth-parents, educators, social service providers, neighbors, community members.

It's a long day but chocked full of information and well worth the time. Classes tend to fill up quickly. Sign up by emailing Sue Wyder at swyder@valleycities.org

I’m almost done with draft one of my first book!

This is a curriculum book for school counselors and educators with 32 engaging lessons for grades K-3. The unique part of the book is that it doesn't just tell you the lesson but gives you the "real" version of what happened when I taught the lesson to one particular group of kids. I share my great successes and my epic fails. Perfect for a new counselor or someone who wants to spice up a curriculum they’re using with tried and true experiential activities.

It Takes an Island Radio Show!

Although this show will be centered on our community of Vashon Island, much of the material will be appropriate for all.
