Rx Partnership Program Update
Phase II of AMP Insulin Pilot Program

Rx Partnership is excited to announce the launch of Phase II: Mail Delivery of our Insulin Pilot Program! In October 2020, RxP implemented a phased insulin program that provides access to seven different insulin medications for Access to Medication Program (AMP) clinic partners without pharmacies. This program expansion is significant because affordable access to insulin to treat diabetes continues to be a huge issue and a barrier to care for many clinics and their patients.

RxP's Insulin Program saw the price of a single insulin vial/pen range from $50 to over $140 with an average cost per insulin vial/pen of $84.25. These prices are extremely cost-prohibitive as patients often need multiple vials/pens and multiple categories of diabetes medications to control their diabetes . In fact, 22% of program patients are on more than one type of insulin! In addition to the seven different insulins provided, RxP also offers two strengths of Trulicity, a non-insulin drug that helps lower blood sugar.

This program has provided 171 insulin prescriptions to 74 unduplicated patients since October 2020!
PHASE I- DIRECT PICKUP
October 2020
Phase I is an insulin pickup model with three participating clinics. Participating clinics pickup the insulin directly from our partner central-fill pharmacy, Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg, as frequently as weekly.
PHASE II- MAIL DELIVERY
October 2021
Phase II ships insulin directly to participating clinics. Olde Towne Medical and Dental Clinic in Williamsburg is the first Phase II participant and received their first prescriptions in October 2021. Ledwith-Lewis Free Clinic in Tappahannock and Chesapeake Care Clinic will be the next clinic participants starting later this year. Further expansion to additional clinics will take place upon program, data, and budget review.
According to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), more than 1 out of 3 adults in Virginian adults have prediabetes, 1 out of every 11 Virginians has diabetes, and medical costs for those with diabetes are twice as high as for people without diabetes. This means that affordable access to medication to treat diabetes will become more and more critical into the future.

Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) Credits are Available!
The purpose of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) is to encourage businesses, trusts and individuals to make donations to approved 501(c) (3) organizations for the benefit of low-income persons. In return for their contributions, businesses, trusts and individuals will receive a tax credit for 50% of their donation that may be applied against their state income tax liability.

NAP credits offer RxP an opportunity to give back to our donors in the form of tax credits. Unlike a tax deduction, a tax credit reduces a donor’s tax bill dollar-for-dollar. For example, under these guidelines a $2,000 gift would generate $1,000 in tax credits to go directly towards the donor’s Virginia state taxes.

RxP has a limited number of NAP credits to give to donors that make a qualifying donation. For additional details, please click here.

Questions or would you like to make a NAP credit qualifying donation?
