The King of All the Earth
"For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise."
Psalm 47:7
"God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne."
Psalm 47:8
"The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted."
Psalm 47:9

Verse 7: "For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise."

Here in verse 7 we have the reason for the 4-fold invitation to "sing praises" from verse 6: "God is the King of all the earth."

This takes us back to verse 2: "How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!"

We have the fifth invitation here in verse 7: "sing to him a psalm of praise."

Verse 8: "God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne."

Jeremiah 10:7,8: "Who should not revere you, O King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you. They are all senseless and foolish; they are taught by worthless wooden idols" (NIV).

It makes sense to let Him rule and reign.

Verse 9: "The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted."

Psalm 109:27: "Let them see that this is your doing, That you yourself have done it, Lord" (NLT).

Revelation 4:11: "Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created" (NIV).

Revelation 19:6b-7b: "'Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him..." (NIV).

Let's conclude our worship this morning by singing "Thou Art Worthy":
Thou are worthy, Thou art worthy, Thou art worthy, oh Lord
To receive glory, glory and honour, glory and honour and power.
For Thou hast created, hast all things created.
Thou hast created all things.
And for Thy pleasure they are created,
for Thou art worthy, oh Lord.
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
