School Picture Day
Tuesday, October 20th
Tuesday, October 20th, is school picture day at Dawson! All students will take their individual yearbook picture during math class. Math teachers will walk their classes to the library for in-person students. DVA students can enter through the front door of the building pictured here: https://bit.ly/373DwIC . This door leads directly to a designated photographer serving only DVA students throughout the day. If possible, DVA students should stop by campus during the time they would normally Zoom for their math class.
No order forms or payment is needed from students at the time the picture is taken. Students only need their student ID number which they'll give to the photographer. Click here for ordering information.
If students miss their picture opportunity October 20th, round two is set for Friday, October 23rd. Students currently participating in football, volleyball, or cross country will have team sports pictures during their designated athletics class period. For students who missed having their picture made October 20th, individual school pictures can also be taken on the 23rd during student lunches (in-person) or by accessing an exterior door to the rear of the campus shown here (DVA): https://bit.ly/33ZHHn3 . If possible, DVA students should stop by campus during the time they would normally have lunch.
A final picture makeup day will be scheduled in December should students miss having their picture made on the 20th and/or 23rd.

Socktober
Student Council is collecting NEW, warm socks for the homeless during the month of October. Why Socktober? Every night an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets in the United States. Simple things like socks can help homeless people get through the winter months. One of the number one clothing items needed by homeless shelters is socks, yet socks are rarely donated.
Students are encouraged to drop off socks to their 3rd period homeroom teacher during the month of October. Student council members will keep track of the number of socks collected. The 3rd period class with the most socks donated will be provided a Sonic drink of their choice in early November. Dragon Virtual Academy students are encouraged to participate.
There will be a collection bin in the foyer of Dawson Middle School to collect socks from our DVA students. Make sure to label the donation so we know which teacher to give credit to. Thank you for supporting Student Council’s sock drive.

Two Clubs Added!
Orchestra Club
Just on the heels of our campus club fair wrapping up, there’s a late entry hoping to find some members. Many students at Dawson have the beautiful ability to play in an orchestra that our school unfortunately does not have. If there’s a violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, or piano player in your home who can commit to two rehearsals a month, join the DMS Orchestra Club! Here’s the form to show your interest.
Board Game Club!
If you love games of all sorts, Board Game Club is for you. On Tuesday afternoons, from 4:00 to 4:30, we will play fun online board games through Zoom. If you would like to join, please click HERE to fill out an interest form.
