Yacht Club Park Update

New Developments at the Yacht Club Community Park

The final U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit has been secured. Once construction at the Yacht Club Community Park begins, initial work will focus on building new docks, relocating the boat ramp, and replacing the seawall.

City Manager Releases FY26 Proposed Budget

City Manager Michael Ilczyszyn released his Proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Budget, presenting a structurally balanced financial plan that prioritizes enhanced service delivery, sustainability, and continued investment in Cape Coral’s future.

The $1.5 billion proposed budget maintains the current millage rate of 5.2188. The proposal supports the City’s long-term strategic goals while addressing population growth, inflationary pressures, and infrastructure needs.

Volunteer Opportunities

City Seeks Applicants for Waterways Stakeholders Group

The City of Cape Coral is accepting applications for its Waterways Stakeholders Group from July 14 to September 1. This group advises on waterway navigation, water quality, water management, recreation, and natural resource preservation.

City Celebrates 30 Years of Canalwatch, Welcomes New Participants

The City of Cape Coral is proud to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Canalwatch Volunteer Program and invites community-minded citizens to join this vital initiative to help protect our waterways.

Canalwatch volunteers collect environmental data and water samples from designated sites across Cape Coral each month. We welcome new volunteers of all backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary; full training is provided.

Free Backpack Reflective Flashers for Students

Beginning Friday, August 8, the Cape Coral Fire Department is offering FREE backpack reflective flashers to help students be more visible as they wait for the bus or walk to school in the mornings.

Please stop by any of the City’s 13 fire stations or the Fire Administration building to pick one up!

RedSpeed School Zone Cameras Resume Operations August 11

The Cape Coral Police Department will resume full operation of RedSpeed school zone cameras as students return on Monday, August 11. These automated, radar- and laser-equipped cameras are active throughout the entire school day—from 30 minutes before school starts until 30 minutes after dismissal on all school days, with clear signage posted. Drivers exceeding the speed limit by more than 10 mph will receive a $100 civil citation, with no points or insurance impact.

Time to Register for Fall Sports

Fall sports are back and the City of Cape Coral Athletic Division will begin accepting registrations for its youth and adult fall programs on a first-come, first-serve basis on Monday, August 1.

Youth sports leagues include Cal Ripken Fall Baseball (4-12 yrs), Biddy Basketball (7-8 yrs), Youth Volleyball (9-17 yrs), Jr/Sr Fall Baseball (13-16 yrs)
Adult sports leagues include Men's, Women's, Co-Rec, and Church Softball, and 7-on-7 Flag Football.
