Staff Christmas Remembrances

HELP!
Thank you all so much for filling out pledge cards for 2022. I now have a large and very colorful pile of cards to use to enter your pledges for next year. Among the many pledge cards we have received so far, one of them asked that we set them up to "Continue with present VanCo amount". Unfortunately a name was not included on the card, and I do not know whose it is. If you filled out a Blue Financial Commitment form where you included this request to continue with present giving, could you please let me know?
You can either use the Financial Secretary mail box at church, or send me an email at [email protected].
Thank you all for your continuing support of the mission of King of Glory Lutheran Church, through contributions of your time and your prayers, as well as through your financial commitment each year.
Kurt Borm

They will be seeking candidates for Council terms (3 year terms) two full 3 year-terms on the Columbarium Board of Directors and nominations for the Nominating Committee Thank you for your interest if asked!
Lewis’ Honorarium

Since March of 2020 Wes and Dawn Lewis have provided a faithful ministry among us producing weekly virtual worship services. They put in thousands of hours into this unique ministry, and used their technical expertise to produce worship services for the whole world to participate in while we were distanced from each other and our sanctuary. We would like to thank them for this ministry and have set up an honorarium in their honor. You may donate on-line in a Vanco designated fund, or by check or cash. Please designate your gift for the Lewis Honorarium. We will present this gift at our January Annual Meeting. And yes, they are continuing their ministry among us until we are able to “live stream” from our sanctuary.

KOG Candle Lighting Sign-Up
We still have a few dates available for you to volunteer!

Advent is a time of preparation, waiting, watching and expectation for the coming of the birth of Jesus. One of the traditions of Advent is to light candles for each week before Christmas Eve. This time of waiting allows us to carve out time to be silent in our wait to pray and listen for the voice of God. Many people have an advent calendar and advent candles where we mark off each day during the anticipation of the coming of the Christ child. Candles have traditionally marked our time of expectation and preparation as we note the passing of each week before the celebration of Jesus’ birth.

The Worship Committee would love to have volunteers videotape lighting their Advent candles and reading a prayer. This is easy to do with a phone and send it to Pastor Connie ([email protected]) and to Wes Lewis ([email protected]). Please contact Pastor Connie to be sent the prayer for the week that you are recording.

The worship Committee would love to have volunteers at each of our Sunday in-person services to read a prayer and then light the Advent candles. Please contact Pastor Connie at 970-222-8394 to receive the prayer beforehand and tell her which service you are available to light the Advent candles.
The advent wreath with candles will be placed to the left of the altar.
Advent and Christmas at King of Glory

You are invited to take quiet time during this Advent season by attending Wednesday in-person worship services at 7 PM in the sanctuary or a virtual dulcimer evening prayer service led by Steve Eulberg and Erin May Lewis, also offered on Wednesdays at 7 PM. The link for the service and the link to down-load the bulletin will be available on King of Glory’s website.

Christmas Eve services, both in-person and virtual are being planned and the actual worship times to be announced. We are excited that a special gift at the services will be “singing”! With the ending of crisis standards of care at area hospitals, a lower community transmission rate, and the ability of children to be vaccinated it will be special to celebrate with song! We are thankful that our music staff and choir members shared the gift of music with us as we listened to the words. We will still require all to be masked while singing.

Who Will Be A Witness? Hart, a public theologian and profession of theology at Messiah University calls the church to action, offering a way forward that is rooted in the life and witness of Jesus.

Income budgeted:                                                                      $362,568
Income Received without the two Paycheck Protection Program Loans: $309,850
The church received two Paycheck Protection Program loans in 2021 for $80,228 added to the total income received.
These loans were part of the Rescue Act passed by Congress to assist businesses and non-profit organizations with revenue shortfalls during the pandemic. These two loans have been forgiven and do not to be repaid.
Actual Expenditures as of October 31, 2021:                               $355,275
Budgeted Expenditures:                                                              $379,835
The expenditures do not include the capital improvement projects which are being funded by the loan from the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA.
We appreciate the careful monitoring of expenses by all of our committees and staff.
We were notified recently that King of Glory is a recipient of a Walking Together grant from the Northwest Intermountain Synod. These funds will be used to assist in outreach ministries in our community.

The Stewardship Committee continues the focus on 2022 pledges. Thank you to all who have returned pledge commitments and new Time and Talent information. Your timely return of pledge commitments will assist the Council in preparing the budget for 2022. Pledge cards and Time and Talent forms are available in the church.
