The Pen is mightier than the sword…

To paralyze the Caesars,

And to strike the loud earth breathless!

40 years of boots on the ground Ministry

November 1984 - November 2024

This newsletter marks four decades of God's faithfulness through a very unusual ministry. When I tell people that I am an abolitionist/sidewalk counselor, their facial expression is confirmation I am living something different.

My prayer was not going to be "Lord, bless the things I'm doing for you," but rather, "Lord, I want to do the things You bless."

And He has in every way!

Several friends have challenged me to write a book after reading the newsletter updates over the years or hearing me speak at a church.

So I am writing a book of stories from my adventures down God's path. They will be short stories, not long chapters. I have already penned forty-five of the sixty stories that will appear in the book.

Below are a few edited stories of great moments inside At the Well Ministries.

In 2025 I will finish and publish this book. Help me come up with a catchy title for the book. The winner will get a signed copy...HA!, I thought I'd never say those words. Send your ideas to 1956howie@gmail.com

And now some highlights...

...and He has committed to us the message of reconciliation...we are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. II Corinthians 5:19-20

"I will #%^&* you up homie! I'm a gang member and we will %#&*% you."

Outside the abortion center, these were the first words from the man next to me in the photo. Eight years later, three saved children, ex-gang member, a heart's desire for God, and a trip to Ghiradelli's makes me thankful for the Lord's call into the battle for the souls of men.

The San Francisco State outreach was brutal. With a riot fence put around our display and eight police officers, hundreds of students and local misfits screamed and threatened our team as we engaged with them.

The ringleader was a woman filled with hatred and rage, spewing out the worst of language towards each of us.

Fast forward six years to a few months ago as we are on the Skyline College San Francisco campus. The lady ringleader from SF State approaches our display and, WOW, a changed woman. What God can do!

The best way to grasp this is through our POWERFUL short video clip below of before and after. Enjoy God's miracle.

Outside the Planned Parenthood killing place, I'm approached by a sweet mom and her four children.

"Hello. I don't know if you remember me, but my boyfriend and I came here and you changed our minds about aborting our first child. We got married and now have a full family. Would you like to meet the saved baby?"

"She is a junior at a private high school and wanted to meet you too. Her name is Genesis, because she was the beginning of our family of children. Thank you."

"So what are you going to do with those brass knuckles?" I cautiously asked.

"I'll punch your face," growled the Planned Parenthood security guard.

After a few years of threats, I didn't see the guy anymore. I had often witnessed to and challenged him to get out of the child-sacrifice business. Six months later...

He shows up near the building and calls me over to talk to him. He was grasping an object that turned out to be a Bible instead of brass knuckles.

"I just wanted you to know I became a Christian and am sorry for the way I treated you. I was just down the street at our church's Bible study and wanted to come by."

Awesome God!! Faithful God!! AAAAMEN!

"Oh Victory in Jesus, My Savior Forever."

My niece Kortney grew up following her dad and uncle into the pro-life arena. Her incredible story and inspiration for my brother, me, and countless others are chronicled in my 2012 Tribute to Kortney newsletter on my webpage and in a book called We Choose Life, stories of pro-life heroes. Mike Huckabee highlights Kortney in his video The Gift of Life on Amazon.

Much of my ministry on college campuses is the result of Kortney's encouragement and leadership.

Kortney and her pre-born daughter, Sophie, left us early at twenty-seven years old after a drunk driver crossed the line on a two-lane highway twelve years ago, and our precious Kortney and Sophie entered Heaven.

Her life still influences me today in my efforts to rescue the lost at any cost.

Below is a video tribute played at her memorial.

Going outside high schools, as the students are let out, has been a powerful outreach. Getting our literature into their hands has resulted in babies saved and hundreds of thousands of kids reading the Gospel for the first time.

Spending two days in the middle of a college campus, inviting the students and teachers to engage our team is one of the greatest things I can do with my life.

I've been on college campuses all over the Western United States in the past 15 years and

the incredible God-moments are presented in my past newsletters found on my website.

Fifty years ago, the Lord directed my steps into a youth group where I met a godly girl.

You would think the eventual valedictorian of her high school would know better, but she picked me, and has been a faithful companion; even when I came home from work one day forty years ago and said that I was quitting my job to step out by faith, rescuing babies and their moms from abortion centers. Brenda looked at me and said, "If God is calling you to do that, I am with you."

Together, we have two great sons and daughters-in-law,

nine precious grandchildren, and a lifetime of memories.

These decades of working in the harvest fields would not be possible without God placing the right people, at the right time, investing in God's Kingdom through At the Well Ministries and Project Truth.

Over four thousand babies have been rescued and souls have been saved. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is lifted up in all we do and say.

God has placed on people's hearts the desire to volunteer and stand with me at the abortion centers, on the college campuses, and at the high schools. Brothers and sisters in Christ have given me encouragement, advice, rebuke, and commitment; some for forty years. I have not used my newsletters as a fundraising tool, but have allowed God to place the funding on people's hearts, and all of the expenses of accomplishing this outreach have been met every year.

If I were to name all of my mentors, fellow laborers, and support team, it would fill two books. In the upcoming book, I'll name many. For now, eternal Thank You. You know who you are, but more importantly, the Lord is keeping a record of your labors. The rewards will last forever.

It's possible that this life-changing ministry will have to continue for another forty years. I will be 109 years old. Let's dig into the harvest fields for the long haul.

In year forty-one I hope to continue to do the things God blesses: going to abortion centers, engaging students at colleges and high schools, preaching in churches, and seeking the lost.
