The pen is mightier than the sword…

To paralyze the Caesars,

And to strike the loud earth breathless!

Stand up, Stand up for Jesus...

The story that inspired the great hymn "Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus, you soldiers of the Cross," is worth revisiting online.

This summer, that song is constantly playing in my head.

I asked some younger friends if they knew that tune. My heart sank as they said that they had never heard it.

Did you know that many churches in the 1800's would not sing that hymn because the pastors thought the words were too war-like and confrontational.

Project Truth and the Galt Bible Church Youth Group teamed up for another outreach into Lake Tahoe to STAND UP FOR JESUS! A wonderful couple, Tami and Pat, hosted us for lunch "in their backyard," to kick off the three days of witness. We handed out over 5,000 Gospel tracts, witnessing along the way to a lost generation of souls.

We will rejoice in Your salvation, and in the Name of our God, we will set up our banners. Psalm 20:5

Thousands of cars passed by our banners of truth on South Tahoe Blvd. A thousand people walked by us and some engaged our team and took our literature.

Outside the Celebrity Golf Tournament, thousands of people came and went, most taking our Gospel-filled information.

Stand up for Jesus, Stand in His Strength Alone...

One of the many highlights of the Tahoe adventure happened when a young man approached Addie. He was choked up as he thanked us for being out on the sidewalks, opening up about being the product of a rape. This Christ-centered man told her that his mom chose life and God richly blessed her life. He asked if he could pray for our team, to which Addie said "YES!" I got to be in on his powerful prayer, bringing me to thankful tears.

Above, the teens of the Galt Bible Church find the best places to find crowds of people. Below, the Lake Tahoe police checked in on us. They were professional and had to tell a troublemaker (below, right) to back off of Ethan, who was trying to present the truth to a group of visitors. We always have good encounters with the police, who know our team and have said they appreciate our team's demeaner each year.

Stand up, Stand up for Jesus, Where Duty Calls...

As Project Truth finished our spring tour, we visited Foothill College near Stanford, realizing we had never been there before. It was great all day. The Christian students attending the college were pumped, telling us that their liberal college had never had such a bold witness before. The administration called the police to have us removed, but when the police arrived the administrators received a lesson on free speech as we continued to engage the students.

Above, as Carol finished her talk with this group of students, one student stayed to share that her mom had recently become a Christian and it was making her think about her soul. A fellow college student was listening to Carol share the Gospel with her. He was so moved that a fellow student on campus was thinking about God, he jumped in on the conversation and witnessed to his classmate.

The girl said she would consider the things they were telling her, while the young man would also never be the same concerning his testimony on campus. Please pray that the seeds planted would be watered and that student will soon join the family of God, so the next time we visit the campus, both students will welcome us back with open arms.

Below, one of our former Project Truth team members has grown up to minister in Los Gatos as an Anglican pastor and director of a Christian school. Steve Macias told us he wanted to join us at Foothill College with some of his bold and brave students. His students were solid, confident kids, handing out our brochures and were an inspiration to us at the campus.

The students were reacting to us like we had come from outer space. They had good questions and were shocked by the victim imagery.

Our display continues to be relevant after over a decade of presentations.

Stand up, Stand up for Jesus, The Strife will not be Long. This Day the Noise of Battle; The Next, the Victor's Song...

Before we returned to our space shuttle, some tried a weak protest, to no avail. That's no way to treat visitors from outer space. The Lord does call us "aliens," though, in I Peter 2:9-12.

Pastor Dudley Tyng in 1857 preached a powerful message in his Philadelphia Church after he was kicked out of his first church for being an abolitionist pastor. In his incredible sermon, he warned the congregation that the Country had lost its moral compass. He challenged his people to take heed to the words of Hosea 8:7 which states "They have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind." Pastor Dudley's message rings true in 2025 as America is in so much turmoil from wrong decisions.

Not long after he spoke these words, an accident took his life at only 33 years old. Just before he left the earth, Dudley Tyng told his best friend to tell the people of God to "stand up for Jesus..." and then he died. His best friend penned a poem based on the pastor's dying words, and read them at the funeral. After the memorial, someone took the poem and put it to the music we know as "Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus."
