Bringing California Law Into Focus

Electronic filing has finally arrived in LA County
Beginning on January 2, 2019, the Los Angeles County Superior Court made electronic document filing mandatory in Civil Unlimited cases. The Federal and Bankruptcy Courts already require electronic filing and allow electronic signatures as do many counties in California, including Orange County.

Why is this important?

Because LA County has the largest population in the US by almost double.

This finally brings the County into the digital age. In my early years, we would dictate client declarations, have secretaries type them, send them to clients for signature by fed x, wait for them to be returned by fed x, blue back the documents and then send a runner down to the court and pray the papers would be filed timely. Now, in many cases, preparation through filing can be done on the same day.
