BootCamp – Full-body workout posted online - Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays (Email Heather to join the group or follow the link below). The workout is designed with a mixture of cardio and bodyweight that you can complete at home. Workout is sent around 11:00 a.m. http://www.remind.com/join/ka6e8e

Fresh Air Day – Walking is one of the easiest and most beneficial activities you can include in your everyday life. The Fresh Air Day invites you to take a walk outside for 20 minutes on Tuesdays this month. Whether it’s walking the dog, adding some extra walking when checking the mail, or looking for butterflies with the kids, a 20-minute walk is a great-and easy-way to integrate exercise into a daily routine. Plus, the fresh air and sunshine are a wonderful way to rejuvenate your mind. Share your Fresh Air Day and inspire others using #FreshAirTuesday.

Strength-N-Stretch – (CLASS IS LIVE STREAMED) Class will incorporate heart-healthy, mobility- enhancing movement with body awareness. 30 minutes of class will be focused on movement and strength training, with the final 15 minutes focused on core strength, stretching, and relaxation through easy-to-follow yoga sequences. Woo-Kix –(CLASS IS IN PERSON) A fitness class that is considered a low or high impact, high-intensity workout that can burn 500-600 calories in just one hour. Punching and kicking to a variety of high energy music is a fun way to work out while burning fat and calories for all levels of fitness. Cardio Kickboxing is a total-body workout, you can save time by combining your workouts in just one routine... Cardiovascular and respiratory fitness, flexibility, strength building, endurance, core and body composition are all covered with just one workout.

Zumba – (TBD) No experience Necessary! Just have some fun dancing the stress away. Zumba a total body workout, mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie burning dance fitness party. Many call Zumba "exercise in disguise" because it is so much fun, it doesn't feel like you're working out! Let those Latin and World Rhythms take you over and burn a load of calories. You will have a boost of energy and feel awesome each time you that you attend. No dance experience needed, just a desire to have fun and feel the beat!
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS:
Heather Dennis has years of experience in instruction, coaching and personal training. Her passion is teaching others how to incorporate exercise into their daily lifestyle. She is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and has her Strength and Conditioning Certificate (CSCS).

Jessica McMillan has taught a variety of fitness classes over the past decade, including aerobics, Pilates, and bootcamp- style strength training. She is a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) and is Barre Fitness certified. Jessica is a speech- language pathologist with Wooster City Schools and a local yoga instructor. Jessica's classes aim to challenge body and
mind while moving in new ways.

Carol Mills was in the original Zumba class when it was brought to Wooster in 2007. When her current instructor decided to retire, Carol was ready to step in and instruct. She became a certified ZIN Zumba instructor and has taught for the last 6 years.

Joie Schmitz is a local yoga, mindfulness and wellness instructor, known for classes that challenge both body and mind. She has an RYT-500 advanced teaching certification through the Jivan Yoga Teacher Training Program at Baltimore Yoga Village. Joie loves to travel the world, practicing and teaching yoga, and finding new ways to share the power of yoga with
others.

Sherri Prindle is an instructor who truly understands the challenges mentally/physically first hand of choosing to make lifestyle changes by incorporating exercise and healthy food choices into one's life. Weighing in at 210 lbs. food had taken control over her life, with healthier food choices and exercise she lost 85 lbs. 23 years ago. Sherri has been teaching cardio kickboxing and step aerobics classes for approximately 20 years; she tries hard to motivate students while making the classes fun as well as challenging for all levels of fitness, beginners, intermediate, and the super fit.

BOOTCAMP WORKOUTS
ABOUT:
Bootcamp is a full-body workout sent out Monday/ Wednesday/Friday via the Remind App for you to do on your own. With COVID we are switching gears and tailoring workouts for you to do at home in your living room, basement, or in your driveway!

  • All workouts are built with the same template a Warm-Up, Lift, "Track Workout", and a Finisher.
  • Mondays/Wednesdays the workouts are mixed sets and intervals.
  • Fridays the lift's are always Tabata Style with 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest for various exercises in 16 minutes.
  • All workouts are designed for you to be done within 45 minutes!


TIPS:
  • With workouts being geared towards home, you can make them more challenging by doing the following:
  1. Use 1 1/2 reps
  2. Use Triple Stops
  3. Use 3 seconds eccentric motion
  4. Grab household items to add weight. Ex) Soup cans, Water Jugs, dogs, kids, etc.
  5. Switch to one side at a time.

  • I use an app called "Interval Timer" and it's easy to use. You can save the timing formats for future use!

WCSD Staff - as a part of our Wellness Initiative, you are able to earn your membership to the Gault Recreation Center.

Joining the GRC gives you access to our newly updated Lift Zone that has 4 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 3 recumbent bikes, an upright bike, and 2 rowers. There is also all new Life Fitness machines and free weights. Enjoy access to our indoor 6 lane track and 4 multi-sport courts (availability varies).

The current rate for WCSD Employees is $40 for the year. We are planning a membership drive this Winter to help you earn your membership. All you need to do is send an email with your interest to Heather Dennis ([email protected]) and come to the Gault 7 times in November. Track your visits on the sign-in sheet located at Kiosk near the GRC office. 

Employees can come in during public hours, which is 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and then from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. But we have employee hours only from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
