Principals Message
Dear Fallback,

Happy May Day! One of my happiest memories as a child was making May baskets with my mom. We made simple construction paper baskets and put flowers from our yard in them. Then we would sneak to a neighbors house and hang the basket on a neighbors door, ring the doorbell and quickly hide. When they answered the door they found the basket and we waved from the street. Today that sounds like it was an activity created just for a pandemic!  I think that during this time we have such an opportunity to make memories, I hope that you are making many simple memories with your little one!

I want to express my gratitude to each of you for your support of our school, staff and most of all your wonderful children during this time. As I strive to continue to help all children learn, I appreciate you as parents and now your child's teacher as well. It has been amazing to see how lessons can be accomplished together and to hear about how kids are learning. I have loved seeing the parent and teacher connection grow stronger and want to see that continue. I am so thankful for each of our teachers as they seek to learn new technology and new teaching methods to engage kids virtually. I am encouraged as staff share their experiences through our Google Meets staff meetings and team meetings. You are all amazing and doing great things. Thank you!

This coming week, May 4-8, is Staff Appreciation Week. Our district and school will be celebrating each of our awesome staff members. I celebrate our families as well this year during this week and consider you part of my staff family! If you want to email your child's teacher, parent educator, therapist or para a note of appreciation, a picture from your child or a video, please do! It will make their day. If you want to share them with me, I would be very happy to see them as well!

Happy May Day! As always, yours for the journey!

Miss June

Starlets Enrollment Going on Now!
Starlets enrollment is going on now. Starlets is a preschool where parents and children can participate together. The preschool sessions meet once a week during the school year, with a licensed teacher. Early literacy and math skills are emphasized as well as lots of play to engage and interact with the world around them. Each child enrolled in Starlets has the option of receiving a developmental screening during the school year. The Starlets program is a one time fee of $35 and is open to all families in the Maize School District with a child who is 3-5 years old when the school year begins.  There will also be a Mini Starlets session starting the end of January 2020 for those children turning 3 between September 1, 2019 - December 31, 2020. That session will be $20 for the semester.

End of the Year Note
Note from PTO:

Thank you for all of your support throughout the year. It was so unfortunate how we had to end the year. We had more fun planned including the activities for Teacher Appreciation Week! One thing the teachers always love getting is the "About my Teacher" questionnaire, and we have attached it here so you can fill it out for any teacher, para, or other staff member you would like, and email it to them. If you don't have their contact info, send it to us and we can get where it needs to go.

We need volunteers to help keep the PTO going strong for next year. Please contact us for open board positions or if you just have fun ideas for activities or fundraisers. Keep an eye out on the Maize ECC PTO FB page and ECC FB Group for possible end of the year/Summer meeting information.

Thanks again for everything you do to help us support the ECC staff!
