Happy May Day! One of my happiest memories as a child was making May baskets with my mom. We made simple construction paper baskets and put flowers from our yard in them. Then we would sneak to a neighbors house and hang the basket on a neighbors door, ring the doorbell and quickly hide. When they answered the door they found the basket and we waved from the street. Today that sounds like it was an activity created just for a pandemic! I think that during this time we have such an opportunity to make memories, I hope that you are making many simple memories with your little one!
I want to express my gratitude to each of you for your support of our school, staff and most of all your wonderful children during this time. As I strive to continue to help all children learn, I appreciate you as parents and now your child's teacher as well. It has been amazing to see how lessons can be accomplished together and to hear about how kids are learning. I have loved seeing the parent and teacher connection grow stronger and want to see that continue. I am so thankful for each of our teachers as they seek to learn new technology and new teaching methods to engage kids virtually. I am encouraged as staff share their experiences through our Google Meets staff meetings and team meetings. You are all amazing and doing great things. Thank you!
This coming week, May 4-8, is Staff Appreciation Week. Our district and school will be celebrating each of our awesome staff members. I celebrate our families as well this year during this week and consider you part of my staff family! If you want to email your child's teacher, parent educator, therapist or para a note of appreciation, a picture from your child or a video, please do! It will make their day. If you want to share them with me, I would be very happy to see them as well!
Happy May Day! As always, yours for the journey!
