Our Forest Park Fire Department has been doing some truly outstanding work to address a challenge that many fire departments across the country are facing—the recruitment of firefighter/paramedics. Led by a group of dedicated, passionate members, including Lieutenant BJ Reid, Lou Galvez, Kevin Kraus, Tim Ryan, Bill Shanahan, Travis Myers, and Brian Valtman, these individuals are taking proactive steps to bring new talent into the department.
Through their efforts, the team has been collaborating with fire academies and medic schools to introduce students to the incredible opportunities within our fire service. They’ve been offering insights into the daily work of our department, and even more importantly, they’re creating personal connections with students by encouraging them to ask questions and explore potential careers in firefighting and emergency medical services.
This initiative, spearheaded by some of our newer department members, is already showing positive results. Thanks to their hard work, we now have a growing list of 63 promising candidates who are interested in joining our team. These recruitment efforts are not only vital to ensuring we have the staffing we need but also help to reduce the burden of overtime, ensuring that our current members aren’t overwhelmed and can continue to provide the high level of service that our community depends on.
All our first responders work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of every member of the Forest Park community. We're incredibly proud of the dedication our public safety teams have shown. Thank you to all involved for their tireless commitment to keeping our community safe.

Yard Waste Pickup Resumes April 3
Starting April 3, yard waste pickup will resume on a weekly basis. To ensure proper collection, please follow these guidelines:
- Place your yard waste in a separate container clearly marked "YARD WASTE" or in brown yard waste bags.
- Containers should be positioned next to your regular trash cans for pickup.
- YARD WASTE stickers are available for free at Village Hall. (Please note: stickers are not required for yard waste bags.)
Homeowners are responsible for disposing of all yard waste and leaves. Please do not place any debris in the street, as it can block water flow and cause flooding or obstruction of catch basins.
As spring approaches, heavy rainfall is a concern. The Village’s street sweeper is actively cleaning curb lines to maintain proper water flow into catch basins. Additionally, our Vac truck is out daily to clear catch basins, ensuring effective stormwater management.
Help us keep the streets clean and prevent flooding by properly disposing of your yard waste and avoiding street obstructions.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Important Reminder for All Residents!
Vehicle stickers will expire on March 31st. To avoid late fees, make sure to renew your sticker before the deadline.
You can easily renew online, in person, or by mail—whatever is most convenient for you.
