An academic bilingual community fostering global citizenship
Dear Park Spanish Immersion School Families:
We hope that you have had a great week. Our third, fourth and fifth graders have been busy in the mornings this week taking the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA's) in math and reading. Our fifth graders will take the MCA's in science next Thursday and Friday April 25 & 26.
Work continues to progress on our new building! Click  here  for photos. We will host a "Farewell Open House" for PSI at Central on Monday, May 20th from 5:30-7:00 pm with a program starting at 6:00 pm in our gymnasium.
Daily, I am impressed with the kindness and curiosity of our students. Thank you for partnering with us on behalf of them. Have a great week, and keep reading!
Sincerely, Corey
Principal, Park Spanish Immersion School

Cartonera Project:
Empty (Family Size) Cereal Boxes Still Needed!
We are still collecting empty, FAMILY SIZE, cereal boxes for the upcoming Cartonera Project.

What is a cartonera? Translated quite literally, a cartonera is a cardboard book. Cartoneras got their start in Argentine in 2003 as a way of making reading and writing accessible to all. Click HERE for more information about the Cartonera Project.
Math & Science Connection - Beginning Edition
Parents can help their child(ren) understand—and enjoy math & science. For instance, at school, your youngster is learning early algebra skills. With these ideas, he/she will enjoy playing with algebra after school, too. Working with patterns of objects will help your child see patterns in numbers—a basic principle of algebra.

Fall 2019 Amity HOST FAMILIES Needed!
Each year PSI welcomes eight Amity Interns from Spanish speaking countries who assist our teachers in the K-5 classrooms. These interns are either pursuing or have recently completed a college degree with an education focus, and are between the ages of 20-30 years old. Amity interns live with PSI host families one semester, allowing both the Amity and family an opportunity for greater language learning and cultural exchange.
Please consider hosting an Amity Intern for a semester. This unique and wonderful experience can benefit your entire family. Plus, it's a great way to give back to the students, staff and entire community.
Want more info? Please check out the FAQs or email us at psiamity@gmail.com .
Ready to sign up? Go to PSIparents.com , click Get Involved and select Amity Intern to find the Host Family application. Fill out your application today!
Thanks for considering this amazing opportunity!
