Dear Park Spanish Immersion School Community,
It was wonderful to connect with many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday. I look forward to seeing many more of you tomorrow. As a reminder, we do not have classes tomorrow due to conferences, and we will not have school on Monday in observance of Presidents' Day.
Please join us next Tuesday evening for a PTO meeting from 6:30-8:00 pm in our Media Center; child care will be provided. Superintendent Osei will share the work of our District-wide School Start and End Time Committee, and there will be an opportunity for you to give feedback. We will have a presentation on the important racial equity work occurring in our schools, and there will be other PTO and school updates.
Our first graders enjoyed the Science Museum of Minnesota yesterday, and our third graders had fun learning at the Minnesota Zoo for Spanish Day. It is fun talking with our students as they recount the many great opportunities they have!

PSI Reading Survey -Your Input NEEDED!
This year, our Steering Committee, comprised of teachers and parents, has been investigating how to support families with reading at home. We value and need your perspective. Many of you already completed a Reading Survey on Tuesday while at conferences. For those families coming to conferences tomorrow, please take a few minutes to complete this survey before heading home.

Hello, Parents! The third grade student leadership representatives are planning a school wide project to spread kindness. Each student will get the opportunity to decorate a rock with a positive Spanish word on it. When they take it home they can hide it or gift it to spread kindness to someone and make them happy. 

We will need some supplies for this project. If you are willing to donate we would appreciate the help!  Here is a link to the supplies we will need including, modge podge, paint pens, foam brushes, and money for rocks.

Career-A-Palooza-March 6th
We need volunteer presenters to come speak about/demonstrate their career to our Kinder - 5th grade students for our annual Career-A-Palooza! The event goes from 8:30 am - 1:45 pm on March 6th. Lunch is provided for presenters. The goal is to expose students to a wide variety of career options. Each presenter will have a station, and small groups of students will rotate through the various career stations by classroom. Each station will present/demonstrate for approx. 7 - 10 minutes.

Start Getting Excited - The Silent Auction is Near!
This year, our biggest fundraiser will be bigger and better than ever! For the first time, our Silent Auction coincides not only with Carnival but also with Parents' Night Out! W e are currently seeking silent auction donations and need your help!
Here are just a few ideas:
  • Restaurant or retail Gift Cards (The perfect way to re-gift!)
  • Your professional skills/time. Are you a Massage Therapist? Hairdresser? Nail Technician? CPA? Photographer?
  • Your company's donation. Monetary gift, a gift basket or gift card.
  • Solicit donations from your business-owning family members, neighbors or friends.
Please donate by March 1st. Gift card & item donations can be dropped at the Silent Auction bin in the PSI office. PSI Parents is a registered 501(c)(3) and donations are tax-deductible.

NEW for 2019 Spring Fundraiser!
New this year, families will be receiving a save the date for some important PTO event dates in March along with a request for donations to the PTO. Please watch for this  backpack envelope  to come home with students the last week of February.   ANY dollar amount that each family can contribute is greatly appreciated!
The spring fundraiser helps raise money for the PTO so that we can continue to support our Amity Intern Program. The Amity Interns support student learning alongside PSI staff and the program is funded entirely by PSI PTO.  
In previous years, Leer-a-tón, Carnival and Silent Auction have been our primary sources for fundraising for PSI's PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). We are so grateful for our community of volunteers and the many ways in which families have made these events a success year after year. This year, our hope is to simplify Carnival and focus on community building in order to reduce some of the burdens of planning and carrying out details for this event.
