An academic bilingual community fostering global citizenship
Dear Park Spanish Immersion School Community,
It has been a fun and busy week with book clubs, field trips, and we are looking forward to the school assembly of PSI PTO's  Baile Folklórico  this afternoon. We will also have a community performance tomorrow, Friday May 10th at 7:00 pm in the High School Auditorium. For all of these activities, we are grateful for our parent and community support! It takes a village...
Next week, we will have a grade 4-5 band and orchestra concert at 1:45 pm on Wednesday, May 15th. As a reminder, we will not have classes next Friday afternoon; we will dismiss at 12:55 pm.
May is always a month full of wonderful school activities, and I look forward to celebrating with you in the weeks to come. Have a great week, and keep reading!

Middle School Quiz Bowl Team Qualifies for National Tournament
A team of eighth graders from St. Louis Park Middle School has qualified for the Middle School National Championship Tournament – the premier middle school event held by National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT).

Students Axel Abrahamson, Ryan DuSaire (former PSI students!) , Finn Gidden and Rose Huse qualified for the national tournament based on their performance at the DeLaSalle Invitational Academic Tournament of Middle Schools on March 16. “These eighth grade students represented St. Louis Park in an outstanding way,” said Quiz Bowl Advisor Lisa Lillie. “They are very kind and encouraging to one another as well as great sports with the other teams.”

Wooddale Avenue Bridge Improvements
Latest Updates and Upcoming Detours
A traffic detour is scheduled for May 7 and 8 on northbound Wooddale Avenue. In order to pave the northbound lane of Wooddale Avenue (just north of the Highway 7 north ramps), there will need to be a closure and detour of northbound Wooddale Avenue. View the  detour map  for more details.

The current schedule is as follows:
  • Tuesday, May 7: Close the road at this location and use the posted detour from approximately 8:30 a.m. to noon for milling of the pavement surface.
  • Wednesday, May 8: Close the road at this location, and use the posed detour from approximately 8:30 a.m. to noon for paving of the road.

On both of these days there will be additional lane restrictions on the off ramps (Highway 7 to Wooddale Avenue) and on north and southbound Wooddale Avenue between Walker Street and the South Frontage Road.

The contractor continues to make good progress on finalizing the construction of the project and is expected to be completed by late May.

The following traffic control is expected to be in place until the Southwest Light Rail Transit begins construction in 2019 or 2020.
  • All-way stops signs will remain at the ramp intersections and at the south frontage road (regional trail crossing).
  • There will be one lane of traffic in each direction along Wooddale Avenue with left-turn lanes to access Highway 7.
