Students will be supervised by a qualified university faculty member as they provide these services on location of both GMFB programs and partner agency distributions. An additional 234,000 people in Georgia have diabetes but don’t know it, greatly increasing their health risk.
There are 2,674,000 people in Georgia, 33.7% of the adult population, who haveprediabetes with blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes.
Every year an estimated 65,000 people in Georgia are diagnosed with diabetes.
They have donated 26,880 backpacks to 7 GMFB backpack agencies with an estimated value of over $24,000!

Low or no vehicle access limits access to food. Providing alternative evening distribution hours and weekend hours can help.

Healthy Tip Flyers Series
In partnership with Public Health we will be providing you with flyers promoting healthy tips and recipes that you can print off and provide to your guests at your distribution. They will be provided in both English and in Spanish. The series will run for 10 months. This resource and more are available in the Agency Toolkit on our website under Nutrition Resources folder. This is a great way to build relationships and a healthier community!
