2018 OSLAD Grant Applications

City of LaSalle Rotary Park Expansion Project: This project will expand Rotary Park by providing access via a paved ADA walking path, 0.8 miles long, back to the Little Vermilion River and Prairie Lake area at the back of the park. The project will also include a fishing pier on Prairie Lake, 6 covered picnic tables, an 18 hole disc golf course, a pollinator area, a shelter/pavilion, (7) benches, (11)garbage cans throughout the expansion and a restroom at the beginning of the path. The project site is approximately 236 acres.

City of Oglesby Senica Square Development Project:  The city is seeking to develop a new City Park within the heart of downtown. Acquired in 2010, this 1/2 site was once a dilapidated commercial building that has since been razed and converted into public green space. The vision of the space is to offer universal access to a diverse community park capable of offering a a wide range of active and passive recreation opportunities including: music / acting performances, picnicking, splash feature, and ice skating.

2018 IEDC Conference was held Sept. 30 - Oct. 3

Duane Calbow attended the IEDC Conference in Atlanta Georgia. International Economic developers and leaders spoke of the importance of development in all of its forms. During the conference I attended many sessions and forums such as Reinventing Business Retention and Expansion in the Global Economy, The early pipeline for Economic Development Success (children and youth), Generational Marketing for Stronger Communities, Supporting Rural Entrepreneurs, Tax Reform and its Effect on Economic Developers across the U.S. and a New Analysis for Identifying top Rural Counties for Workforce. The information that was gained at the conference will help to provide a framework to address the challenges in our region.
