Sharing the Love of Reading

Carey fifth grade students keep the tradition of reading to Kindergarten students alive while masked and physically distancing. We appreciate our fifth graders helping our kindergarten students develop into readers.
Improving Learning Environments and Saving Money
Buddy Wendel, BCSD electrician, receives a rebate check on behalf of the District from Idaho Power’s Amber Larna. Buddy Wendel, with the BCSD Buildings and Grounds Department, worked closely with an Idaho Power representative to facilitate a lighting retrofit project at the Wood River Middle School.

The project included replacing light fixtures in the cafeteria, Technology Lab, and the gymnasium. 250 watt and 400 watt metal halide lights were replaced with 100 watt and 160 watt LED fixtures respectively. This will provide for significant energy saving, better illumination for staff and students, reduced maintenance costs, in addition to the hefty rebate check from Idaho Power.
Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences for all schools, except Carey, are scheduled for this Thursday and Friday. Conferences will be held via telephone or virtually. Due to the pandemic we are not allowing access to our buildings for conferences. If you have not heard from your child’s teacher and have concerns about your child’s progress, please email the teacher and/or principal so that they can schedule a phone call or virtual meeting with you.

Learning to Continue on Snow Days
School BUILDINGS may be closed in Blaine County School District due to severe weather, local emergencies which make operating school buses too dangerous, or when there are school plant failures which make the building uninhabitable.

However, with all students having devices (Chromebooks or computers) and internet access, learning can continue even on these days. Teachers are posting lessons weekly. If school buildings are closed due to bad weather or other reasons, students should use their device to access learning for the day as well as following any other instructions sent to them by their teacher(s).

Notification procedures for when school BUILDINGS are closed and buses not operating can be found on the BCSD website under School Closure Information.
