Science Students Study Convection Currents
WRMS 8th grade Earth Science classes are unlocking the secrets to how Earth works by understanding convection currents. During this lab they created a convection current by using a heat source to create low density fluid (the red dye), and a cold source to create high density fluid (the blue dye).

They watched and made observations about their convection current and its circular, cyclical motion. Next, students will be connecting their knowledge of density and convection currents to understand why the Earth has different layers, and how they work.
SAT Day for Seniors
Idaho requires that students take a college entrance exam before graduating from high school. Usually juniors take the SAT during the spring. This year with schools closed due the pandemic, juniors missed this opportunity. This past Wednesday, seniors across the state took the SAT college entrance exam to make up for last spring's lost opportunity. Here are WRHS students giving it their all while masked and distancing. Our students are relentless!

All 10th and 11th grade students (A to Z) should attend school on Thursday, October 29 to take the PSAT exam. This exam provides feedback to students and teachers on their progress toward being prepared for the SAT college entrance exam. Academic areas needing more support can be identified.

To accommodate distancing while students in grades 10 and 11 are testing, the following schedules have been set at each of the high schools:

  • Carey High School: 9th and 12th grade learning from home on October 29.
  • Silver Creek High School: 9th grade in school, 12th grade learning from home.
  • Wood River High School: 9th grade students learning from home, 12th grade students meet at the football field (must register before that day) for senior year preparation activities.
