February News
"For the joy of the Lord is my strength" Nehemiah 8:10

From the Pastor's Pen
The other day someone gave me a bag of oranges. They are delicious, juicy and sweet. If you get them real cold in the refrigerator they are even better. It got me to thinking about how much fruit is used as an analogy in the Bible, especially when it comes to the indwelling of the Spirit. Jesus uses this illustration in John 15.1-4, “I am the true vine, and My Father is he vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me ……”
Paul tells us in Galatians 5.22, that the first fruit of the Spirit is LOVE. Meaning if the Spirit of God dwells in us then we will show love to others around us.
