Grading for Equity

Rachel Baxter will join us at our October meeting to discuss Grading for Equity, a book by Joe Feldman that is guiding Marshall’s professional learning for teachers and instructional staff this school year. Feldman’s work focuses on the three pillars of equitable grading: Grades that are accurate, bias-resistant, and motivational. Rachel will share information about what equitable grading practices look like, how this could impact students at Marshall, and answer questions you may have.

Each year, the Marshall PTSA awards Academic Letters to qualifying students in the fall of their Junior and Senior years. Students who earned a GPA of 3.7 or higher based on the previous year’s coursework are recognized for their effort and accomplishment. Mr. Richard Hildreth, a past PTSA President, established the Academic Letter Award at Marshall High School in 1987.

Below is a list of the Junior and Senior awardees. Posters with the names will be hung in the main entrance lobby soon. Congratulations to each recipient!

Academic Letters will be distributed on Friday, October 13thduring all four lunch periods in the cafeteria. First-time recipients receive an academic chenille letter. Second-time recipients receive a brass bar to pin on their existing letter. Students listed on the posters should come on October 13th to pick up their awards.
