Gardant Growth


Gardant recently was appointed to be the management company for 25 senior living, assisted living, and memory care communities. Twenty-two of the communities are located in Illinois and three are in Ohio.

 

Gardant now operates more than 80 communities in Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, and West Virginia.

Congressman Visits Heritage Woods of Batavia

U.S. Rep. Bill Foster recently visited Heritage Woods of Batavia, a Gardant-managed affordable assisted living community in Kane County, Illinois.

 

During the visit, several workforce issues, including staffing challenges, concerns with proposed CMS staffing mandates, and targeted immigration reform to bring in foreign nurses from other countries were discussed. Also discussed were the difficulties hospitals are having discharging patients because of the challenges of finding an available nursing home bed and the Illinois Supportive Living program as a model for affordable assisted living, benefiting residents and their families and saving the federal and state governments money.

Celebrating 15 Years Serving Older Adults of All Incomes

Heritage Woods of McHenry held a 15th Anniversary Party. Since opening in 2008, the Gardant-managed affordable assisted living community has served nearly 700 older adults of all incomes.

 

Especially honored during the celebration were employees Fernando Cueto, Housekeeping, and Tracy McCafferty, Nursing, for 15 years of service. Also honored were residents Doris Aggarwal, who has called Heritage Woods of McHenry home since 2009, and David Stout, who moved to the community in 2010.

 

Heritage Woods of McHenry was the first Gardant-managed community to be recognized with a Silver Quality Award by the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living and has been named one of the best assisted living communities in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

Seven of the eight teams from Supportive Living communities in Illinois that qualified for the regionals in the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition’s 2023 Wii Bowling Tournament are from Gardant-managed communities.

Playing Games and Your Brain

A study published in JAMA Network Open indicates that playing games and doing puzzles can reduce the risk of dementia. Of particular importance are games that require critical thinking, problem-solving, and memory recall.
