Serving San Diego and Imperial Counties since 1917
We did it! We have survived a year without being on our school campuses, meeting in person with one another, or what I miss most, hugging and conversing as we start and end our meetings and PTA activities.
That being said, I’m so amazed at the wonderful work that continues despite all these restrictions. We’ve learned to work in a virtual world, and sometimes even thrive in that environment!

I’ve learned so much from dedicated PTA leaders and parents who continue to make the needs of all children a priority. I hope you’ll take time to watch the video linked below of all the activities that have been happening during this pandemic. You’ll be so inspired! I’m so proud to be a member of the largest child advocacy organization in the nation and know that we all are making a difference.

We are doing our best as Ninth District PTA board members to ensure you have the tools and latest information on upcoming events to keep you informed and able to do the very best you can as parents and leaders. We have the opportunity to receive training from our California State PTA leaders at convention in May. In addition, Shawna Straw, Ninth District PTA Director of Leadership, and the Ninth District PTA Leadership Resource Committee are hard at work to provide training and resources for our local leaders. Please take advantage of these opportunities. Look for more information in the upcoming months.

I look forward to the day when I will be able to meet with you in person and see your unmasked smiles. Until then, stay safe and know that your work matters!

Gratefully yours,

Colleen Hervey, Ninth District PTA President president@ninthdistrictpta.org

California State PTA Extended Flexibility for conducting VIRTUAL ASSOCIATION MEETINGS.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, California State PTA extended the flexibility announced earlier to allow for virtual association meetings until the end of the term. The new extension will run through June 30, 2021.

Given that options for holding virtual association meetings are included in the 2020 version of the bylaws, units, councils, and districts operating under an older version set of bylaws will continue to be allowed to hold virtual association meetings.

Begin planning now if your association wants to continue conducting business virtually in the next PTA year. Presidents, appoint a bylaws committee to review the current bylaws and follow the procedure to update, if necessary.
