As another Super Bowl is getting closer we are left to think of the magnitude, the grandeur, and the splendor of a single event. The game brings pleasure to millions and millions and sometimes billions of American Football fans across the world. I also understand how consequential this game can be for franchises, coaches, players, and their legacies. I remember how proud I was of David Tyree (my college teammate at Syracuse Univ.) when he held onto that football on the side of his helmet to secure a first down after he’d scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl; this catch propelled the N.Y. Giant's victory over the then undefeated New England Patriots.

However, it's the daily activities in which we engage that lead up to those life changing moments. I believe that in one single moment during the methodical completion of a monotonous task the invisible line is crossed and that person will be ready to do something great when their moment comes. Sometimes that’s true for our character as well. Not just with the repetitive catching of footballs out of jugs machines or running wind sprints. Maybe after methodical and consistent service, and putting others first, we can cross that line into being greater men and women of character who are ready when their time comes.
