SCHOOL LUNCHES

School lunches will begin on the first day of school. An electronic lunch menu will be sent home at the end of July and be available at "Meet The Teacher". All lunches are $4.25 and includes an entre, side, fresh fruit and milk/water bottle. Copies of your menu choices come home in Family Folders before the month begins. Our vendors are Dash of Salt & Pepper Catering and Precinct Pizza.

If your child forgets their lunch, they will be provided with an emergency lunch. This may include a hot lunch or a grape uncrustable with chips and a milk/water. Your tuition express account will be charged the $4.25 for lunch.

Lunches are not billed until the end of the month so students can add or take away lunch menu items. Little taste buds sometimes think they will like something and then don't. If that is the case, email Ms. Patti at [email protected] or call her at 813-558-9343 Ext. 118 and she will change your child's order for future weeks.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Don't forget, FoC makes purchasing school supplies a thing of the past. By paying your summer supply fee, your child is provided with all the school supplies he/she will need including paper, crayons, folders, planners, pencils, etc. Parents need to provide a lunch box and backpack (no rolling backpacks please). A backpack is not needed in Kindergarten.

Middle school students will also need a thumb drive and locker shelf. Middle school backpacks and lunch boxes must fit in their lockers.

WATER BOTTLES

Don' forget to send your child with a water bottle everyday to school.

Our water fountains are equipped with bottle filling stations. Water bottle fillers are located inside the building and outside on the playground.

July 2021

Dear Parents,

I hope that your family has enjoyed a relaxing and rejuvenating summer vacation! While you relax (hopefully) over these last few weeks before school, we’re preparing for what is sure to be another successful and productive school year.

There’s been so much going on around campus. The first big announcement is that we have hired a new Senior Pastor, Landon Ledlow. He is moving from Texas with his wife Rebecca and two girls Noa (3rd) & Eve (1st).   Pastor Ledlow comes from working at a large church and school. It will be exciting to collaborate new ideas and planning for the next ten years.  We are blessed to have Pastor Dave Haara remain with us as well this year. Pastor Dave will be officially retiring in May 2022.

The Second announcement is that ground has been broken for the start of our new building. You should see the building up by the week of July 19th. Please pray for the many workers helping us to complete this new space for August 1st.  God is so good all the time!

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” That applies to us as a school, but also to each student as an individual. Our goal is to partner with our parents to instill a love of learning in your children. We want them to find success by working hard and persevering, even when it seems tough! I hope you’re ready—we sure are!

I look forward to hearing the little voices of over 190 students in our hallways and classrooms on August 12th. They are the heart of Family of Christ!

Please remember to stop by and meet your child’s homeroom teacher on August 11th between 9-12pm (A-G 9-9:45 am, H-M 10-10:45 am, N-Z 11-11:45 am).

Happy 2021-22 school year. See you soon!

Blessings,

Jennifer Snow

SCHOOL DETAILS

MEET YOUR TEACHER

Meet Your Teacher is on Wednesday, August 11th. The following schedule will allow our families to meet the teacher and see their classroom. We have set up a schedule so there is less crowding when coming and going. Please stick to your time so everyone remains safe. The schedule by last name is:

A-G 9-9:45 am

H-M 10-10:45 am

N-Z 11-11:45 am

This will be an opportunity to say a quick HELLO and walk through the school. There will be a paperwork table set up in the Narthex. Please stop by after visiting your classroom(s) to hand in your lunch form, Birthday Marquis and Medication Administration forms. Students will also receive their car tags and spirit shirts in their classrooms. Size exchanges can be made at the school office. Also, visit our clothes closet (free uniforms).

CLASSROOM ORIENTATION

Classroom Orientation will be held for Kindergarten parents (Parents Only) on Tuesday, August 17th @ 6 pm. Classroom Orientation will be held for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade parents (Parents Only) on Wednesday, September 1st at 6 pm. Classroom Orientation will be held for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade parents (Parents Only) on Thursday, September 2 @ 6 pm. Classroom Orientation will give the teacher the opportunity for the teacher to answer or address any questions that have arisen in the process of school starting for your family.

SCHOOL HOURS

Middle School students (grades 6th-8th) are in session from 8:10 am - 3 pm and may arrive between 7:55 - 8:05 am. Middle school start time is 8:10 am. Elementary School students (grades K-5th) are in session from 8:30 am - 3 pm and may arrive between 8:10-8:30 am. Coming early holds up the Middle School students getting to class on time as younger students take a lot longer to leaving their cars. Students should be in their classrooms when the bell rings, not getting out of their car.

*Please note: Families with elementary students who have a middle school student (grades 6th-8th may arrive between 7:55-8:10 am but the child must go directly to their classroom and cannot walk around campus.

Since Middle School students must get to class by 8:10 am we ask that elementary parents not hold up the drop off car line in the morning. Please arrive after 8:10 am and let Safety Patrol assist your child out of the car.

CAR TAGS

Families will get their car tags at Meet The Teacher. Extra tags are available in the school office. If you have a grandparent picking up at dismissal or need another tag just email Ms. Patti ([email protected]) and she will send one home with your child that day.

PARKING

During the first two days of school, only kindergarten and new parents may park in the parking lot and then walk their child to their classroom. Returning families, please be understanding to our new families who are coming into school for the first time walking their child inside. Starting the first full week of school, students are then dropped off in car line. Parents will not be allowed to enter the building.

PICK UP

Pick up is at 3 pm. Please pull up and wait in the pick up line to the side of the building. Teachers and Patrols will guide your child to your car as you pull up. Therefore your child's car seat or booster should be located on the right side of the back seat. For your child's safety, children will not be allowed to cross traffic alone. Parents please do not cross traffic to pick up your child.

BEFORE/AFTER CARE PROGRAM

You must have completed Before/ After Care paperwork and enrolled before the first day of school (This paperwork will be sent home electronically at the end of July, will be available at "Meet The Teacher", and then be available at the School Office). Make sure to let your child's teacher know what days your child will attend the Before/ After Care program.

If your child is dropped off before 7:55 am or not picked up by 3:15 pm, they will be checked into this program and you will be charged accordingly.

INTERNET SAFETY

Family of Christ Christian School has put an internet filter in place for every computer on the network. The "Student" log-in ID is set at an age-appropriate school setting and has the highest blocked categories of content.

In computer class, internet safety is discussed throughout the school year. There is an activity called "Cyber 5" that students in Kindergarten through fifth grade watch. The link is below.

Afterwards, there is an discussion on ways to stay safe on the internet and how to behave just like being face-to-face with someone in conversation.

For middle school students, we discuss technology skills every student should have and this includes Netiquette (Internet Etiquette) and Internet safety and Security
