President's Message — Daniel Hermosillo, LMFT
Change is Upon Us
The SFV-CAMFT President would like to wish you all the best as we move into the Summer of 2025!!! As a chapter, we look forward to changing the narrative of these first few months of the year in our professional and personal lives. Change is upon us and adapt we shall!
Highlighting CAMFT’s Annual Conference, your board members made it a point to attend. Those that were able to at least. With the intent on coordinating with State CAMFT and even the BBS to provide programming to our chapter to better inform you, our membership family, on current events, upcoming changes to the field, and new updates to our ever changing profession. We also made it a point to build relationships with other CAMFT chapters to conceptualize how to better support and attract the pre-licensed audience, hoping that they too can call the SFV-CAMFT chapter home.
At this time, I would like to encourage all members and even visitors to reorient themselves to what matters to you! We can do that by reconnecting with what we find joy in, our intimate relationships, what connects us to others outside of our intimate circles, and the things that give us a higher calling. We can also utilize the strengths we have developed through our clinical practice, personal work, and lived experience.
As our SFV-CAMFT Chapter stands, we have taken some steps to make improvements. For one, we hired a Web-Master/Administrator to ease the technical loads that are associated with some of the board member positions. With the intention of allowing your board members to focus on the more important things, such as attending to our member’s needs, exciting events, and practical trainings. We also understand that we must support and promote our members and their endeavors. We do this by having sponsors promote their business, projects, and life missions.
Cultural competency is also a must in our profession. If you missed it, we had a Diversity/Membership Picnic on 5/19/2025. We enjoyed great food, good company, and shared our diverse cultures and clinical backgrounds. With that, we, as the SFV-CAMFT Chapter, will continue to change as a chapter to complement our current and future members. Again, we are grateful for your involvement and support!
