Leveled Reader Backpacks

ABC Backpacks

Dear Readers,

It's hard to believe that schools are back in session in a few short weeks.

The Watauga County Public Library is committed to becoming a community resource in support of learning to read.

We wanted to highlight some special resources for parents of children who are just learning to read.

The Library has curated Alphabet Backpacks to assist families in conversing about and recognizing the letters of the alphabet, created the Appalachian Regional Library Literacy Resources YouTube channel with a wealth of early literacy information, and used grant opportunities to build its supportive resources which include leveled readers, decodable books (coming soon!), and reading curriculum kits.

For questions about these resources, please contact Lisa or Judith in Youth Services.

Welcome to Jenna and Kristian, both part-time Youth Services Specialists, who started work recently.
