Governing Board Openings

Per Aspen View Academy By-laws, three seats on the Aspen View Academy Governing Board will be ending on May 1, 2019. One of the seats is an elected seat. The other two seats will be appointed by the AVA Board of Directors at the May 16th, 2019 meeting.

Board Election Process

If you would like to be considered for the elected 3-year term on the AVA Board of Directors, please complete the nomination form. The nomination will require 10 signatures of eligible voters: AVA parents and staff. The form must be turned in to the AVA front office by Tuesday, March 26th at 4 pm. When submitted, the form will be time stamped, and you will be given a receipt acknowledging acceptance of the nomination form

Candidates are required to submit a campaign questionnaire to answer a few basic questions about Board service. When submitted, the answers may not exceed two pages and must be submitted by March 26th to Ryan Hybarger (board member) at [email protected]. The campaign questionnaire for each candidate will be posted on the school website and be linked to the Newsletter by March 28th.

A candidate Q&A forum will occur in mid-April and will provide the AVA community the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about each candidate. The specific day and time of the Q&A forum will be announced at a later date.

The election voting will take place at the school on April 24th and 25th. Voting times will be April 24th, 6:30am to 1pm and April 25th, 11am to 6pm. Each parent and AVA staff member may vote. If an eligible voter has plans to be out of town for the election days, an absentee ballot may be cast ahead of time. No Proxy voting will be allowed.
The election committee requests that all candidates and members of the AVA community abide by the following expectations:

  • Focus on philosophy, policy, and issues
  • No personal attacks
  • No campaigning on school property
  • Keep the campaign positive in nature, reflecting the values of AVA

The election committee reserves the right to disqualify any candidate who fails to abide by these expectations.

The AVA Election Committee will tabulate the votes and announce the results in the May 2nd Newsletter. The individual with the most votes will be officially recognized at the May 16th Board meeting and will begin his/her service at that time.

Please contact Ryan Hybarger with any questions or additional points of clarification.

Are your frocks in a mock? When we return from Spring Break, please be sure your uniforms are according to guidelines. Double check length on pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts. Per the Uniform policy, pants are to be no shorter than 2” above the ankle bone, and shorts, skirts and skorts are to be at least fingertip length or longer. This equates to be about 4” above the knee. Leggings or bike shorts must be worn under skirts and are to be white, black, gray, navy, or light blue.  Also, jackets, sweatshirts, and hoodies that have the AVA or Wolf Shack logos are the only ones allowed to be worn inside the building.

Lands’ End is constantly emailing and texting coupons, so you do not need to pay full price. Be sure and check your inbox/spam folder or subscribe to receive these coupon codes for the latest deals! Please remember, free shipping is offered once you have ordered $50 worth of merchandise. Also, there should be a Used Uniform sale around the time of conferences. If you have any questions, please feel free to check the uniform policy which can be found here.

Lastly, if you want your Lands’ End dollar to go further, remember to order script cards through the AVA Website, link to Wolf Shack and select giving cards. Questions on these cards can be directed to [email protected].

Make sure your Plaid is Rad for the home stretch!

Thank you!
