FEED OUR FIREFIGHTERS

Join us in supporting Station 6 firefighters on McCann Road! The Unity Committee is launching a monthly food delivery program, coordinated by Rose Briggs and Katy Manck. We’ll provide meals for three 7-person crews, delivering food every other day during one week each month. In June, Rose will bring breakfast casseroles, and in July, the Mancks will deliver blackberry cobblers. Want to help? Contact Rose or Katy to sign up. Disposable pans will include tags thanking the firefighters from St. Andrew and CUMC and inviting them to our online services.

The East Texas Pride Event will be on Saturday, June 28, from 3 pm – 8 pm at Maude Cobb Convention Center. Kathy and Steve Crane will set up our booth. The congregation will be asked to sign up to fill 2-hour slots. For more information and to sign up, please contact Steve Crane at 903-452-2925

JAM NOTES

Katy Manck made the blackberry and blueberry jams with Pomona's pectin, which needs just 1 cup of sugar for 4 cups of fruit (other pectin requires 4+ cups of sugar & 4 cups of fruit to jell).

- The flat lids are heat-sealed; metal rings protect your fingers. Loosen rings for pantry storage, up to 1 year.

- After opening, replace the metal lid & ring with the plastic lid, store in the refrigerator, and use within 3 months.

- Return jars and rings to Katy or anyone who cans. Flat lids are recyclable steel.

If you missed out on either kind of jam, need a reusable plastic lid, or want to take jam to homebound individuals, ask Katy.

Join us for an afternoon at the Texas Shakespeare Festival! On Sunday, July 6, we’ll attend Steel Magnolias at a 2:00 p.m. matinee performance. After the show, we’ll enjoy dinner together (location TBD). Please order your tickets as soon as possible, as matinee performances sell out quickly.
