Tom Paton Application

O Heart of Life,

  Unfold Yourself in me

  Forming a beauty

  Not yet fully seen

  But promised

  With pedals dancing

  In delightful anticipation

  Of Your forming grace.

Quiet me

  Into the present miracle

  Of life’s emergence

  All around in everyone

  And everything

  Though often hidden

  By hurry or hurt

  In a world weighty

  With too much

  Of things too many

  To name.

Still, O Love,

  You rise and unfold

  New vistas of beauty

  Opened in small things

  To reveal Your large love

  And desire for delight

  To reign against impossible

  Odds of the world’s making.

In grand grace,

  Abundance forms

  From Your heart center

  In anticipation of days

  Not yet ready to receive

  The hidden beauty

  You store in every seed

  For just the right time

  Of sacred emergence

  Combining root and stem

  Into flowering fragrance

  Bearing life for busy bees

  Of all shapes and sizes.

But for now,

  Let me delight

  In today’s gift of beauty

  Freely given to inspire

  And open the pedals

  Of this life of mine

  Given to praise You

  By awakening others

  To the beautiful blossom

  You are opening in them.
