State provides assistance for seniors

Ohio's new Healthy Aging Grants program is empowering Ohioans to thrive as they age.

Established through House Bill 33 of the 135th General Assembly and administered by the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA), the Healthy Aging Grants program is providing $40 million in support of local aging services focused on helping Ohioans ages 60 and older stay healthy, live longer, and maintain their independence.

Funds are being distributed to counties in every area of the state to bolster critical aging supports, such as food and housing assistance, as well as internet access and digital literacy services. Clermont County Government has appointed Clermont Senior Services to act as the agent to plan and implement the programs that will be created through the grant funding period.

Through various collaborations with community partners, such as Interparish Ministries, Clermont County Library and the Mental Health & Recovery Board, Clermont Senior Services, Inc. will be offering opportunities for Food and Housing Assistance to include Pop-Up Pantries, Property Tax and Rental Assistance, as well as some minor home repair. Additionally, Clermont Senior Services will be hosting various events throughout the coming months relating to digital literacy and health and wellness education. Further information will be released to the Clermont Senior Services social media account on Facebook, and the local newspaper as details evolve.

If you are a homeowner, 60 years of age and older, in Clermont County with delinquent property taxes, contact the Clermont Senior Services Intake Department (513-536-4033) to determine the level of assistance for which you may qualify. Eligible recipients must have a monthly income at/below 185% of the 2024 Federal Poverty Guideline and be residing in and listed as the owner of the property.
