February is just around the corner and we have so many fun events planned for families, kids, and adults. Be sure to register for the events you are interested in to ensure you don't miss out!

In this newsletter, we have some smart reminders about keeping the community safe and looking great. We, also, have information on things going on throughout the City of Maricopa that we encourage you to get involved in.

Driving in the Community

Please keep in mind that the speed limit within the community is set to help keep everyone safe. In the gorgeous weather we are having, it is very common to see residents on a stroll or children playing outside. We encourage residents to follow the laws within the neighborhood by adhering to the speed limits, yielding at the round-about, and stopping at all stop signs.

Covenants Corner: Reminders

Weeds: Weed season is upon us and it is important to be proactive about yard maintenance. To kill weeds in winter months, you need to use a herbicide containing Diquat. Such products are available for personal use at most home improvement stores or nurseries.

Illegal Dumping: It is illegal to dump trash, furniture, yard debris, or any other item on Tortosa property, including empty lots and common area. A monthly bulk trash pick-up is included in your HOA dues and is available the first Saturday of every month for such items. Call Waste Management to sign up: 602-268-2222.

Painting Guidelines: As of this month, the association will include exterior paint violation notices in the inspection process. If your home is significantly faded and in need of painting, you may be asked to paint in order to maintain your home's aesthetic appeal and the community's property values. Email Rosemary if you have any questions.

Suspicious behavior: The best way to keep vandalism out of your Community is to be aware, be the eyes and ears of your community. If there is any suspicious activity or you hear of happenings, always contact the Maricopa PD immediately. It is better to be suspicious and the situation checked on, than not to report activity and it result in what you thought it might have been. The Maricopa PD is here to serve and protect our community. They will respond!

Grab your calendar, we have fun ahead!

Feb 4th - Enjoy a ride in style to the Suns Game against the Bucks! Tickets are normally $75, but you can grab your tickets for only $46! REGISTER TODAY!

This event is now open to non-residents.

Feb 13th - Cookie Decorating Party! Bring the kiddos over to the HOA office between 4-6:00 pm to decorate some cookies. Please bring canned food donations, so Tortosa can share the love! More Info>

Feb 14th - Valentine's Day Drive-Thru!
This annual "event" is back! We are looking for volunteers to help stuff goodie bags and hand out goodie bags. We are also looking for businesses to get involved. Interested? Please email Taryn!

Feb 18th - The Perfect Pair: Wine Tasting & Dinner Party. This year, we are going Greek! Join us for a four-course meal and seven wines to try. Space is limited and this event is rather popular, so sign up now!

What else is going on in Maricopa?

Tortosa Walk/Run Club

Tortosa resident, Kathy, is starting a walk club to meet every Saturday from 10 - 11 am at the Tortosa main park. This starts January 28th. Free to participate, just bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

Coffee with the Chief - First Saturday of every month at 8 am at the Copper Sky Police Substation. This is a great opportunity to get to know our Police Chief.
