Uncover the Untold History of Chinese Americans in the Deep South
Sunday | May 21 | 2:45-4:30 PM
South Bay Community Church
You’re invited to a special screening of the documentary Far East, Deep South, followed by a discussion and Q&A session with its producer and the lead subject, Baldwin Chiu.
This poignant film follows the journey of a Chinese American family as they travel from the Bay Area through the Mississippi Delta to uncover their roots. Along the way, they discover surprising stories of the racially complex history of Chinese immigrants and African American race relations in the segregated South. By delving into these stories, we can better understand the barriers that still exist in our society and learn how to break them down through historical understanding and storytelling. This is a must-see event for anyone interested in history, race, culture, and intergenerational family dynamics.
Snacks will be provided. We'd love for you to join us! Registration is required, please click the flyer and, share with a friend.
