A time to express our gratitude

As we move to reopen the museum in the near future we are grateful to all who carried this organization through the first COVID-19 lock-down and stood by us. First I would like to thank the DMFAH Board for continuously reaching out during this difficult time. Thank you to the Executive Committee for your unwavering support and weekly meetings to make sure we kept the Sutherlin Mansion steady. And a VERY LARGE and heart felt thank you to Sara Shorter who worked with tremendous focus to provide all our many Museum information requirements for the Paycheck Protection Program applications and for being my steady companion in everything. Thank you to the DMFAH staff for their loyalty and their steadfastness during this very difficult and sudden shut down. We are all happy to have Wenn Harold and CB Maddox back on board. And thank you to American National Bank and all their staff who walked us patiently through the PPP process.

Thank you to all our community partners who have been brave enough to venture to the museum this past month in full PPE regalia to assist with the production of video formats for our digital uploads. Thank you for coming one at a time or in small groups of two and for your careful distancing. Thank you to the city workers and Tim Younger as well other contractors like Tekabite who came out to the museum to take measurements for grant quotes or work on the server. This DMFAH hive has been shut down but still quietly humming one day at a time. And thank you to Beth Deathridge and her team from MOMENTA who have been diligently working with us online to reorganize our website platforms for more information portals.

COVID-19 Dreams

Thank you to our DMFAH members for their generous membership upgrades and their amazing donations during the COVID-19 shut down. Every dollar will have purpose as we move forward, bringing the new UVA fellows on board and start working on programming for next month. Please check out our COVID-19 DADA Dream Collage gallery. # MuseumWeek

Thank you to Jennifer Thomas and her administrative team at the Virginia Association of Museums (VAM) for their tremendous guidance, training as well as offering up of free COVID-19 programming connections. The bi-weekly support with information updates and the connection to other museum executives and administrative staff has been extremely valuable and gave great comfort in these troubling times. So DMFAH will Celebrate Museum Week May 11-17!

This year's international celebration of museums on social media takes on greater meaning as museums struggle with being closed during the pandemic, and the many implications that can bring to organizations. We encourage your everybody to take part in this year's #MuseumWeek efforts happening May 11-17 on social media as a way of promotion and worldwide celebration of the tremendous impact that museums make on our daily lives.

DMFAH will be participating along with VAM and other museums worldwide.

Thank you to the City of Danville for their relief funds for DMFAH marketing losses and the City Work Office for the maintenance of the museums foundation walls during the winter and spring rainy season. Thank you for putting up our Doggie Station in order for more neighbors to enjoy the DMFAH grounds during this Coronavirus period and for the regularly scheduled grass mowing. Thank you to the Garden Club of Danville who regularly checks on the Perkinson Rose Garden. And thank you to CB Maddox for his gentle care of our patio flowers, the Derby Day Mint garden, and the entrance Lady Astor roses.
