GCPC News and Updates
The GCPC maintains regular office hours Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. If you need assistance outside of these hours, please call 810-285-9047 to make arrangements. Our primary goal is to maintain access to prevention services and resources to our community. Please reach out to us if we can be of assistance in providing information and support for addressing substance use and mental health concerns. Access to a variety of programs and supports can also be accessed through the Opportunity Youth Service Providers Portal at Youth Services Provider Portal

SAMHSA Releases New Talk. They Hear You. Campaign Pop-up Banners
SAMHSA expands its Talk. They Hear You. substance use prevention campaign resources with the release of Public Service Announcement (PSA) pop-up banners. Each PSA encourages parents to talk to their children about alcohol and other substances.

Upcoming Webinars

The Central East PTTC is hosting a webinar on December 14, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. ET, titled Part 1: Understanding and Addressing the Social Determinants of Health in Prevention. This webinar will introduce and discuss the social determinants of health and will explain which aspects have been found to be significantly linked to substance use, as well as how the social determinants of health are linked to inequity and health disparities.

The Central East MHTTC is hosting a webinar on December 16, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. ET, titled Co-Occurring Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorder Treatment in the Black Community. This webinar will discuss how co-occurrence may be a major factor in the increased suicide rate in African Americans and the wave of opiate overdoses. address why there is co-occurrence, both from a psychosocial and biological perspective. Developing effective treatment strategies will also be discussed.

SAMHSA: National Disaster Distress Helpline
SAMHSA's National Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990, immediately connects callers to trained and caring professionals from the nearest crisis counseling center in the nationwide network of centers. The Helpline staff provide confidential counseling, referrals and other needed support services. Callers can connect with counselors in other languages through third-party interpretation services. The Disaster Distress Helpline can provide immediate counseling to anyone who is seeking help in coping with the mental or emotional effects of the recent school tragedy in Michigan.
