GCPC News and Updates

The GCPC maintains regular office hours Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. If you need assistance outside of these hours, please call 810-285-9047 to make arrangements. Our primary goal is to maintain access to prevention services and resources to our community. Please reach out to us if we can be of assistance in providing information and support for addressing substance use and mental health concerns. Access to a variety of programs and supports can also be accessed through the Opportunity Youth Service Providers Portal at Youth Services Provider Portal

New Overdose Prevention Strategy Announced

Dr. Marion Delphin-Rittmon, Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, joined Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra in Baltimore for the announcement of the Department of Health and Human Services new federal overdose prevention strategy. This new strategy focuses on the multiple substances involved in overdose and the diverse treatment approaches for substance use disorder.

Preventing Marijuana Use Among Youth

The goal of this guide is to review the literature on prevention of marijuana use among youth, distill the research into recommendations for practice, and provide examples of the ways these recommendations can be implemented.

SAMHSA Releases 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health

Findings from SAMHSA’s 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the nation’s well-being. Americans responding to the NSDUH survey reported that the coronavirus outbreak adversely impacted their mental health, including by exacerbating use of alcohol or drugs among people who had used drugs in the past year.
