Electronic Banking Policy
Attention PTA Leaders

We are listening to you. We understand with COVID and the world in general, this is an electronic world and we have had several requests from you that we allow electronic banking (paying bills electronically, using credit/debit cards, etc).
At its Winter Board Meeting, New Mexico PTA voted to review/update its policies/procedures with regard to electronic banking. This is not an issue that can just be “approved”. While electronic banking makes thing easier, it also complicates things in that it makes it easier for PTAs to have their funds embezzled. We want to have policies in place that allow you to use the ease of electronic banking, but also ensure you understand the risks and what you need to do to protect your PTA from fraud/embezzlement.

Your New Mexico PTA Board of Directors voted to assemble a Task Force to review the current banking policies/procedures to work toward an update that could include some form of electronic banking. The task force must be made up of members of the New Mexico PTA Board of Directors and local PTA from around the state. To make this policy inclusive of all WE NEED YOU! If you would like to be a member of this task force, please contact NMPTA at vp.finance@newmexicopta.org. The task force meetings will be held virtually, and we envision holding 3-4 meetings starting after the first of the New Year. Our goal is to have the updated policies/procedures complete and ready to present to the general body to vote on at our New Mexico PTA Annual Convention which is being held at the end of April 2021.
