Ferry Terminal Construction update

Progress continues on the Bristol and Prudence Island terminal infrastructure improvements. The piling work in Bristol will be finishing up this week. The Prudence Island dock and gallows work is anticipated to begin mid-February. On the Prudence Island side, the gallows will be refurbished and fendering will be replaced. We are awaiting the delivery of the materials for the Bristol waiting area and railings. We expect that project to take place early March. This project will have no impact on ferry schedules or service, but we will continue to provide updates as the construction progresses.

Herbert C. Bonner return to service

The Herbert C. Bonner has completed dry dock Coast Guard inspection and is back in the water. We are planning on it returning to service over the next few days. Once we have the Bonner back in service, we will send out a text alert to announce that more vehicle spaces are available. If you are not signed up for Text Alerts, follow the link below to sign-up.

P/V Prudence Ferry

As we look forward to the Herbert C. Bonner returning to service and the Roanoke joining the fleet as the future summer vessel, the time of the P/V Prudence Ferry as the ferry for Prudence Island is coming to a close.

While it is too soon to tell what the future will hold for the Prudence Ferry, we are thankful for the decades of safe passage she provided for Prudence Island residents and visitors.
