A Weekly Conversation with the Pastor

The gifts of God for the people of God.  Thanks be to God!

These words should sound familiar. They are the words of our communion invitation in worship. They have also been our stewardship theme for Commitment Sunday. As our families gather to recognize the Thanksgiving holiday, these words are a great reminder to us of how God has blessed us with an abundance of gifts. In holy communion, the pastor lifts up the elements of bread and wine that are the gifts of Jesus presence with us. We are also blessed with the love and friendship of people whom God has placed in our lives. There is so much for which we can be thankful. On this Thanksgiving holiday, may we express our gratitude to God for the life and blessings we are given.

This Sunday we begin the season of Advent. On this First Sunday of Advent we hear the call of scripture to “keep awake” and “be ready,” for we know not the day and hour of the Son of Man’s coming. How do we do this? We put on the armor of light and clothe ourselves with our faith in Jesus Christ.

Advent daily devotionals are available in the Gathering Area and at the round table in the back of our worship space for you to use through the four weeks of Advent. We will also gather on Wednesday evenings beginning Dec. 4 for a meal at 6:00pm and a prayer service at 6:45pm. We will use the Holden Evening Prayer Service with a brief meditation. The service lasts approximately 25 minutes. I hope that you are able gather with us for this time of fellowship and Advent prayer and reflection.

And finally, this Sunday we will gather for ONE WORSHIP SERVICE at 10:00am. We will not have our usual first Sunday of the month covered-dish, but instead we will hold a reception in the Gathering Area after worship to welcome new members, Jerry and Sharon Eichler, to our church family,

See you in church!
Pastor Ken

(Updated 11/26/19)
Dear Epiphany Family,

It has been a blessing and honor to get to know many of you. I’m grateful to this church for giving me an opportunity to serve as your office administrator. Working with Pastor Ken, LaVerne and the many volunteers has been a pleasure.
After a period of consideration and prayer, I have decided to pursue a full-time position to further support my family. I will be leaving Epiphany at the end of November.
I will always look back at my time at Epiphany fondly. It has been a rewarding experience to serve and work with you. I wish all the members at Epiphany the very best.

In Christ,
Michelle
