Teacher Highlight
John “Lad” Ladouceur graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in Religious Studies and an M.A. in Theology. After receiving his master’s in Theology he said that he vowed to put what he had learned into practice.

Lad taught English as a second language and Adult Literacy and Life Skills classes to refugees and other immigrants at the International Institute of Rhode Island. He also worked as a bilingual case manager for persons with disabilities at Goodwill Industries
One day he felt called to do missionary work and took a leave of absence to spend a year as a high school English teacher at a Catholic mission in Honduras. While there, he realized how rewarding it was working with young people and decided to work toward teacher certification. Lad became state certified in foreign languages in 2014.

During one of his mission trips to Honduras, Ladoucer met his wife Lori, an RN at Our Lady of the Lake, who was volunteering in the mission’s clinic. The two decided to make their home in Baton Rouge. Lad is convinced the Holy Spirit led him to St. Michael where he teaches Senior Religion and Spanish I.

“St. Michael High School is like an oasis of authentic, vibrant Christian culture. We encourage our students to grow in virtue and grace; we prepare them to be witnesses to the Truth of the gospel through service,” he asserted.
