Q: I've just converted my Dillon powder measure to the large powder bar for the first time. Since there is no spacer plate, what do I do about the hole for the white plug? Seems strange to just leave the hole open.

A: Swap ends of the plug and it fits into that hole. Oddly, the only specific mention of this that I've found is in the XL 650 Instruction Manual.
"a) Large powder bar - FIG 201 The retaining plug has a short end and a long end. If the large powder bar is installed, insert the short end of the retaining plug into the hole in the top of the powder measure body. Note: The short end is used to hold the plug for safe keeping."¹

But I think it is much more important than just a place to "hold the plug for safe keeping". With the large powder bar set to drop of more than about 30% of its range (>13 grains), you can see into the powder metering cavity through the hole when the powder bar cycles. I don't like the risk, however unlikely, of any powder escaping from or a foreign object getting into that hole. So I always insert the plug when using a large powder bar.
