El Programa ONU-REDD se complace en invitarle a participar en un seminario web sobre REDD+ y la biodiversidad en América Latina y el Caribe, organizado en el marco del Día Internacional de los Bosques 2020.
 
A través de las experiencias de los países y de los conocimientos del personal técnico de ONU-REDD, se iniciará un debate sobre cómo REDD+ puede tener una mejor consideración de la importancia de la protección de la biodiversidad en los bosques.

Argentina: well positioned to access RBPs after completing the REDD+ readiness phase

Argentina is among the pioneering countries reporting concrete emission reductions (165 mill tCO2 equivalent reduced only for the 2014-2016 period), and with the important steps undertaken, it is paving its way for potential access to Results-Based Payments schemes.

Restoration and Payment for Environmental Services in Ethnic Group Territories in Colombia

The UN-REDD Programme supported the national government of Colombia and indigenous peoples’ organizations in the design of a National Restoration Programme. The first dialogue between the Environment and Development Ministry and other government and non-government entities took place in November, 2019, and promoted the establishment of a common understanding of the processes and lessons learned about this issue.

La Restauración y Pagos por Servicios Ambientales en Territorios de Grupos Etnicos

El Programa ONU-REDD en Colombia, ha dado acompañamiento al gobierno nacional y a las organizaciones de los pueblos indígenas para estructurar y diseñar el programa nacional de restauración; para ello el pasado mes de noviembre 2019 se promovió un primer conversatorio entre el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo y algunas entidades gubernamentales y no gubernamentales para conocer sus procesos y lecciones aprendidas entorno a este tema.

2019 Progress on REDD+ Safeguards: A Year in Review
Unprecedented progress in meeting REDD+ safeguards requirements was made in 2019. Over the course of the year, the number of safeguard information systems that were put online doubled. The same happened with summaries of safeguards information. In total, six new safeguard information systems were available online and eight new summaries were submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Learnings about Safeguards Information Systems in Latin America
To exchange experiences on the design and implementation of the SIS, representatives from five countries, including Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay and Ecuador, met in 2019. Hosted by Ecuador, the exchange also included Ecuadorian governmental and civil society institutions. The event made it possible to identify progress in the region, as well as challenges and lessons learned in relation to the collection, processing, analysis and reporting of information on safeguards.

Aprendizajes sobre los Sistemas de Información de Salvaguardas en Latinoamérica
Representantes de cinco países -Chile, Costa Rica, México, Paraguay y el anfitrión Ecuador- se reunieron en enero pasado con el objetivo de intercambiar sus experiencias en el diseño e implementación de los SIS. En este espacio también se involucró a otras instituciones gubernamentales y de la sociedad civil del país anfitrión. El evento permitió identificar algunos avances en la región, así como retos y lecciones aprendidas con relación a la recolección, procesamiento, análisis y reporte de información de las salvaguardas.

Capacity Building at the National REDD+ Academy in Kenya
Kenya hosted a National Academy last November to build capacity and understanding for key stakeholders on REDD+ implementation through a long-term, sustainable learning experience, adapted to the specific circumstances of each country.
